OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool ***

Good post.

Points aside, Liverpool looked like they man business and we look like we are still in pre season.

What's more impressive to me are the right player additions that hit the ground running, and the value they get for offloading deadwood.

It's enabled Liverpool to get off on a flying start, if you don't believe it look at their shots on goal stats against burnley and arsenal.

And yet we are above them in the table.

This is where I think fundamentally it splits posters here. There are some who feel that the points will lead to better form and vice versa.

I personally feel that if we play well the points will cone. I don't take pride in winning with below part performance as it may paper over some real cracks that require attention

I'm not excusing the poor form. We are worryingly crap. I was more pointing out that if we can ride out the poor form and not loose then that is a positive of sorts.

I think I may be one of the former, at the end of the season the team with the most points win the league (Leicester) not the team that plays the best (Us and 50% of the EPL not called Leicester).

I've seen us play exceptionally well and come away from a game with nothing and today we played total crap and got a point. The former gets you relegated a lot quicker than the latter.

I do think there are some massive cracks that need papering over.

I don't get why we were lucky, debatable pen, no debate mane should have been off.
We were poor but so were they.

I'm with you.

I'm surprised to see so little mention of the penalty that wasn't. The replays clearly showed Lamela's clip was outside the box. Not a penalty.

Also, in the fist phase of the move, Coutinho (I think) was offside, yet our defender reacted to his run so the attacker has to be active, surely? The ball was over hit and ended up with Firmino, who then went on to get the pen.

Also, there was the Matip foul on Janssen where we could easily have got a pen, and the free kick we got right on the edge - I'd like to see if that foul was on the line.

We weren't brilliant, but if anything they were luckier than us, especially with decisions.

I agree about the offside for their pen, will of course be overlooked

And people are so quick to blame the striker. Janssen in this case but it could easily represent Kane

We need to feed the forwards much more

I think the lack of pace is an obvious hamstring, which is why when we do get possession in the middle, our first movement has to be one into positive space and not dinky lateral passes.

Agree. I thought the ref was awful.
