Thing is I doubt Mou wants them to press high. He isn’t that kind of manager.

That's what I would do.
Lampards tactics have been great. He used Alonso and Azpiluqueta to nulify any option to bring the ball forwards from our full backs. We have no ability to do it through the middle.
Moura off, Ndombele on. Three in CM, which Ndombele or Sissoko breaking forward with the ball.
This gets the ball fwd through the middle and gives the front three more space to move, moving their defence around.

As for Gazziniga - spend half time throwing the ball at him so he remembers he has hands.
 
No haltime rejig can save this train wreck of a game. Embarassing effort all around, technical area certainly included.
 
HT 0-2. We really need some Mourinho magic at half time. We have been absolutely dreadful. The gamble of playing foour forwards against the better teams is just nonsensical. It leaves us far too short in midfield and lose control. We got away with it against Wolves but not against Ynited or Chelsea here. We need at least one more body in midfield.
 
Well, that was embarrassing, but unfortunately not surprising. We have no attacking play of our own under Mourinho. We just hoof it long every time. Midfielders aren't showing for the ball either. And defensively we couldn't get anywhere near them for the first 30 minutes. It seemed like we finally gor to grip with their formation in the last 15 minutes, but then what the fudge was that from Gazzaniga. We were asleep for the first goal too.

Get a passer on in midfield and lets try to play some football at least. It can't any worse.
 
Completely outplayed by Chelsea and Lampard. Will be very interesting to see if Mourinho can make necessary tactical adjustments.

At the moment, though, we appear to be a team that has given up on trying to play the ball through the midfield or down the wings to one that is just looking to catch the other team up the pitch with a quick long punt forward.
 
Some of you really need to get a grip though, fudging hell. Three errors leading to two goals from players who probs won’t be long term first teamers.

We are setup in such a way that allows us to be pressed, we basically don't want to play through the middle but it means we can't get the ball out of defense. This is a tactical master class so far by Lampard and it's not surprising because as I said earlier, every game against decent opposition under Jose has been the same. The opposition have all the time in the world to play around and we have no way of getting decent ball to the forwards.

I can't blame Aurier. Key players have been poor. Lucas, Jan, Dele, Son, Kane, Gazzaniga. Some of these players will be crying for a new contract. Need to buy new players to challenge these ones. A derby and we play like this!!!
