The worry with this game is we never deserved anything (at least we played well for 45 at the Amex), never had a period where we were in top. Had halftime, then made changes... little difference.

Indeed mate.
For me, Ange has made two big mistakes.
1) This was a match to start Pape. We knew what Palace would bring, and that midfield is not the right one for such a scrap.
2) Resist the clamour to start Mikey. I fully expected Werner to start and Mikey to appear as a sub. I was really surprised to see Ange do that...
 
Before the game I watched a video from Ange titled "We're on another level compared to last season"

It was compelling stuff and I started to believe it because I wanted to believe it.

But today was all too familiar.

I could see after 30 seconds that we were in second gear and felt sure we were not truly 'at it'.

I’d have us around 8th. We’re not consistent enough for anything better.

Yip - and we’re currently 8th, which is just about what we deserve to date. We are tied in for now with a philosophy which dictates that we should try to play a certain way no matter what the game or who the opposition. Can’t see our league position changing much while that remains the same.

The philosophy isn’t why we’re spineless away form home
It’s a recurrent issue with spurs teams for a long time
It’s a mentality thing
 
I honestly don’t know if I’m Ange in or Ange out. I want to think that Ange will be successful with us but wtf was toast?! Or Brighton second half?! There are big gaping holes in my confidence with what’s happening. At our best we look unstoppable and I want to believe that that’s what we are going to.

But is that like when you’re in a rocky relationship and you always want the good stuff BUT it’s not going to always be like that. And you don’t get enough of the good stuff to make up for the rest of the brick.
