OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur vs AFC Richmond/Crystal Palace - Sunday 27th October 14:00 ***

I think that works at home
Away… not convinced
We need it even more away from home. Sarr and one of Bentancur and Bissouma are needed to cover the defence. Sarr gets around the pitch and puts his foot in unlike the others. We need that especially away from home. Today we had nobody in midfield willing to fight and it's the main reason we lost.

I’m not suggesting that he’s the saviour and I think he would have struggled today. But nor is he holding us back. Son is definitely worthy of a place in the staying eleven even if he’s past his best.
For me it's more about the composition of the team, rather than their individual skillset. Even if Son is past his best and everybody knows it, he still commands more respect than Mikey Lewis. They went in hard on him early, and he got his baptism today and looked like the young player he is. A Bryan Gil if you like, for better or worse. This is only an opinion, but if we play Son, we also need to play Maddison. But if we play Maddison, we cannot play Bissouma. They cancel each other out, and makes our midfield unbalanced regarding to who does what. Same thing with Kulu in the middle and Son on the left, they try to do the same thing.

IMO we need to establish a midfield generator, and stick with him/them. Not try to shoe-in players by their numbers expecting them to take turns at doing what they're supposed to be good at. And not all our setups are suited to all opposition. It's pretty obvious that we underestimated Palace today, and expected them to bend over because Tottenham good Palace bad. This was a starting XI very good on paper, but clearly better suited to breaking teams down than withstanding constant pressure. If I hadn't seen it so many times before, I would not have believed how brick our passing under pressure was today. But alas, I have.

Yep
Game lost in midfield
And how anyone can’t see that we need an Eze I’m stunned
Him and Wharton controlled the middle of the park

I think a 6th 7th finish is where we are at.

Said it at start of season. We are an ok side that’s it.

I must admit I’m a bit ambivalent this season. Not getting excited about the good or bad. It’s what we are. Jekyll and Hyde. For every good performance we are capable of dross to.
We have a better side than we've seen in large patches this season and last.
