**OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Some Spanish team apparently**

Well I don't know of any synagogues in Tottenham!
Their are quite a few Catholic Churches..one opposite the ground. A Baptist church,Salvation Army. There was a large
Jewish community in Highbury but no doubt le arse fascist,s have driven them out. What was that song they used to sing?
Anyway we do have Jewish fans who continue with the idea Tottenham being a Jewish club. We even see the Israeli
Flag in the ground sometimes.
I don,t know if this is a good idea by us to continue with this Yidd chanting the way the world is now for obvious reasons...making us a target!
I would rather us fans singing about Tottenham Hotspur....

Come on you Spurs.......

In my youth there were plenty of Synagogues in Tottenham. I also often carried an Israeli Flag to away games, especially European ones.

Marca apology:

"The article has generated controversy in England because of a mis-translation of the term 'hated', which also featured in the copy. The 'hatred' that Tottenham suffers is very focused on the radical and racist groups that are hiding in society, especially among the fans of Chelsea and West Ham. Obviously, these groups do not represent the English game or society.

'We regret the confusion that has been created in this respect. The intention was not to damage the image of Tottenham - a club we respect, value and admire.

'We do not want to serve as a mouthpiece for these racist minorities, which remain within football and which use any pretext to spread their messages of hate, which we reject head-on'."

Quality attempt at saying sorry by any stretch.

This game makes me so happy. For us to measure ourselves against the best is just rewards for all the tough times. And to do it The Tottenham Way™ 'makes it all the sweeter.

With One of Our Own™ Up top and other homegrown players on the bench means so much.

Whatever happens IN this game AND ALL THE OTHERS THAT FOLLOW to support this beautiful club, which stands for quality, entertaining football achieved without blood/oil money and an ethos of win at all costs, is one of the most important (after my wife and kids - and you GG-era,e me the miserable cnuts) things in my life.

I can see it now. He runs half the length of the pitch, tries to push it into the path of Aurier's overlap, it bounces off the defender and back to his feet. In just 3 seconds of lightning sharp thinking, Sissoko instead goes to cross the ball, kicks it against his own shin, falls over the ball and heads it into the top corner.

And we'd love him for it...even more than when Iversen's rocket towards the corner flag bounced off the bewildered Ginger Pele's head and rocketed past Seaman at Old Trafford!

If Davies isn't ready I would want a back 4 with Vertonghen at left back. I think we need Dier in midfield for this one.

Hopefully Dembele is fit and was just rested against Bournemouth.

From the options available I think Trippier at LWB is the best option.

1. Trippier at LWB which allows us to play the recognised trio of centre backs
2. KWP at LWB which allows us to play the recognised trio of centre backs
3. Son at LWB which allows us to play the recognised trio of centre backs. Playing Son there in this fixture is total suicide as we found out in the semi last season
4. Jan at LWB with Dier playing as one of three centre backs. This means no specialist holding midfielder away at Madrid which is also basically suicide
5. Jan at LB in a back 4 which imo is also a big risk as Madrid are very direct and often bypass the midfield, negating any extra central midfielders we deploy

I think it's crucial we have our recognised 3 central defenders playing that role tonight with Dier in front of them. That means Trippier or KWP at LWB.

Remember this isn't a Burnley at home where we will need to break them down. This is Madrid away so Trippier being slightly withdrawn and cutting inside playing safe from that position isn't a problem.

Given they're likely to play 4-3-3, I'd want us to go with a back 3, and with our strongest back 3 as well. I dont rate Trippier as a LWB though, so I'd be tempted to play KWP. I expect Poch will play Trippier though

Rather Trippier at lwb than Vertonghen there and Dier in the back 3. I actually think Trippier has done a decent job there before though his attacking impact is obviously a bit limited by that position.

Way too big of an ask to start KWP there in this game imo.

Two of Davies, Trippier and Aurier as full backs. Obvious back 3. Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Son and Kane for me then. Winks or Sissoko for Dembele if not fit.

Proud to have Jewish supporters, Muslim ones Christian and even atheists like scara. Beliefs separate humans from animals and should be respected however different from your own as long as they are not murderous. Football, in particular our love for Spurs is the great thing we have in common so you are all ok as far as I'm concerned.

Preparing myself for a loss though and will feel miserable for a while after. Not used to losing anymore. A draw would be a great boost to take into the Pool game.

Indeed. Thankfully never seen anything as disgraceful as this amongst our fan base, in the 3 decades I've been following Spurs at least.

I am absolutely buzzing for this.. I'll be up at 5am to tune in, I may just forego sleep altogether.

Can't wait to test our mettle against (arguably) the best team on the planet.

Can't wait to see how we handle ourselves against old boys Bale and Modric.

This is what the CL is all about. This is what life is all about. Moments, moments where humans have the opportunity to leave their mark.

If we manage to pull off the unthinkable and win, I'll be running naked down the local streets in nothing but my scarf.

To dare is to do. Come on you fudging Spurs!

These are the games we aspire to play in, we get a chance to test ourselves against the best. I want us to play our normal game and go for the win, as I've said before no shame in losing a game you are trying to win.

Personally I don't want to see any other 3 centreback combo. Dier should play alongside Dembele in midfield (or Winks if Moussa is short of fitness).
Aurier on the right and Trippier on the left didn't work against APOEL. May be Poch should try the opposite variant? I defenitely remember Aurier playing as LB in PSG. Also he will be on the wing against Hakimi (Carvajal has health issues and misses the match). Hakimi is Real Castilla's player who is described as a solid player defensively, but tiny in attack.

I don't expect us to get anything in this game. We are facing a monumental task today. Most of our players have never played at the Bernabeu and that itself can be a daunting challenge. Hopefully Llorente can use his experience of playing there several times to help the team. Real Madrid are the current champions, and are unbeaten in their last 29 group games in CL, and haven't lost at home in the CL since 2009. We really need to be at our very best to get anything. Anything but a loss would be an incredible achievement!
COYS!! Make history! Make us proud! Audere est facere!

So, this is easily our most difficult match so far this season. Real Madrid have won the CL for the last 2 seasons and they have a strong squad. Also, we have never beaten them in our history, drawing 1 and losing 3 of our 4 matches against them. In fact, we have never scored any goal against them in all those matches, conceding 6 in return. Both our matches against Real in the 2011 CL quarter final were decided by Crouch's red card in the first leg at Real and Gomes' error in the second leg at WHL. We need to do much better than that if we want to have any chance of doing well this time.

No doubt our key man will be Kane. We will need him to be at his best in front of goal. When he plays well and scores, we do well. But can see him being tightly marked in this match. This is why we also need others like Son and Eriksen step up their game and threaten the Real goal. Want to see Eriken take a good freekick for once, if we do get any. We still have not seen the best of Llorente in front of goal even if he didn't play much. Hope he can come on and do something if we need him.

I think this match will be won or lost in midfield. We simply need to control the midfield to have any chance of getting something from this match. But can't help but worried about our midfield now. Without the injured Wanyama and Dembele, our midfield have not been very good this season. The likes of Dier and Winks are either too young or error proned. I think Sissoko should start this match. He has been in good form lately. Maybe he will be our secret weapon against Real.

Our defence need to be air-tight against Real. We cannot afford to make any unforced errors as Real have players like Ronaldo who can take advantage of that. Want to see Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Sanchez concentrate fully in defence rather than joining our attack. We also need Lloris to be alert all the time. Remember, Gomes let in a soft goal against Real in 2011. We simply cannot afford to make such mistakes in defence this time.

Since we are playing away at Real, a draw will be a great result for us. But if we want to become a top team that everyone respects, we need to beat the big teams like Real home or away. After all, if we have any ambition of winning the CL one day, we should be ready to beat all the teams. Hope we will turn up with the right team and mentality to make history by beating Real !
