*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United ***

And if they are lucky as they were against City. They were pretty cack. I know we can't talk much but we are at home and I'm hoping that makes a difference!

It's interesting that we play well against soton and the attitude is "ah, but it's only soton, they're crap", but utd play cack against a cack city side and steal a win and it's a boost for them but a boot gonads for us.

It was kind of the same when we beat City though. The remnants of City's prestige always make people rate a victory over them highly even if at this moment they are very poor.

I guess you could also add the nature of the last minutes comeback and win is often a confidence booster.

I'm going to this one.

I feel it's time for Ange to step up tactically and play it smart given all the injuries and fatigue we have.
If we lose because they have more enegry/firepower then fair enough...but if we lose because we pushed our defensive line to the halfway line and one ball over the top does us on the counter when every player is in their half, i'm going to be livid.

Game is in 28 hours and not an OMT as yet

Date : 19.12.24
K.O : 20.00pm
Venue : NWHL

Another hugely important game for us
United fluked a win on Sunday, they were average, are average and I think we can take them

Forster
Porro Dragusin Gray Spence
Maddison Bissouma Sarr
Kulu Solanke Son

2-0 Spurs
It's a win win situation. If we beat Man Utd tonight it's great, but if we lose it spares us going out against Arsenal or Liverpool

We beat them comprehensively at their place a couple of months ago though (albeit with an inept manager). The main difference between now and a decade ago is that there aren't that many United players who'd walk into our first XI. It used to be the other way around. It's true that we won't be at full strength but it will be an interesting test of how much a difference a new manager can make.
That inept manager won two trophies, if he did the same at Spurs we would have built him a statue by now

Time will tell about the value of his legacy but, from where I'm standing (which is admittedly very far away as I rarely watched them), he paid a lot of money for some average players and the quality of play was only getting worse. He stayed there for what? Two years, I believe and sure, he did win a couple of trophies for them but so did Mourinho.

I don't mind eating a good slice of humble pie if he succeeds elswhere (although, in all fairness, we probably won't remember that exchange) but I've seen nothing in his time at United that suggests he could make it outside the Ajax model. If you think 'inept' is too strong a word, let's settle for 'on his way out'.

Your use of the term "Ajax model" is perfect. What many of us didn't realise until afterwards is that he worked well at Ajax because of the structure that Ajax implemented. He was able to play the football he did because it's what is expected at Ajax, the youth players are already developed in that mindset and he had a good batch coming through at the same time.

Looking back at his time at Utrecht they didn't play possession football but instead they were a counter attack transition side. So there was this false expectation that he was going to bring the Ajax style with him when instead he just inherited it rather than being the one who implemented it. At United he played the football that he always played when he wasn't in charge of Ajax.

Ange will mostly do what he's been doing all along. But as in other big games and when playing with more fatigue we'll probably see us step off our pressing a bit more than in some other games. Though hopefully with some rotation recently and the Southampton game ending up being easy we'll be able to press high and well quite a lot of the time.

Always a risk that we get done on the counter or by a ball over the top playing like this. Just like there's a risk with any system. Ange will win or lose playing Angeball.
