*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United ***

So Bergvall, Biss and Bentancur? Or Deki with Biss and Bentancur?
We could go Gray, Bents and deki/Bergvall.

We have played reg, can call back Philips or use Dorrington, if VdV and Romero still injured.

Reg ---- Philips ---- Drag's ---- Djed

or

Davis ---- Philips ---- Drag's ---- Djed

or Dorrington in place of Philips.

We really have no need to play Gray in defence, but we need a dm in midfield, and if he was good enough for Leicester against Chelsea.... And put i a great performance, he is good enough to do it for us.

He had an adjacent defender facing forwards in yards of space and wide of him. He simply needed to pass it on. He dithered. Watch them again. It was psychological as much as club footed.
With respect Steff you're arguing at cross purposes here. First one, he passes sloppily, slightly short to a player, and they win it. That could be psychological but I think it's just poor play and decision making from a GK not good with the ball at his feet. The second one was panic with the opposition player bearing down on him so it's a combination of psychological but also not able to control or shift the ball quickly from one foot to the other. The problem is the more times you give the keeper the ball the more he will be targeted and he will make mistakes. He's probably not the right GK for the system Ange wants to play, albeit a very good shot stopper which is also a requirement.

You got to hope Forster won’t be doing the same again in future games and goes long, hopefully learnt his lesson 🙏
It's what they are being told and coached.

It happens with Vicario, it happens with Forster and it's ecatly same issue and I firmly believe our coaches are shyte.

On the upside, at least van de Ven and Romero should be fully match fit for our trip to Anfield in February.
That's what I thought. Imagine having this team and squad away at Anfield. Tie would probably be over.
At least this way , we can hopefully stay in the tie and have some / all of our players back for the second leg.

And with return respect my friend, the notion that he is not a keeper fit for this system was posited by me -quite vociferously- on this forum. I further criticised the DoF structure for 'gambling' with not having a better suited back-up keeper; it's fair to say many did not agree with that as being a point of wiorthy club criticism.

Anyway ;-)

If you've been watching closely, in recent weeks we have actually adapted how we play back to him in terms of angles and amount of time. There has clearly been a subtle tweak to allow for his lack of actually foot-skill. In the first-half he dealt with everything, as he has been, because as we also have been, we did not use him as much as we would a Vic.

We were 3-0 up when he made that first mistake. Yes, it is poor play/decision-making, but remember the poor pass he made just before that to (I think) Biss which created a bit of negative momentum. He clearly had a brainfart. The second one? There is no need for the player to get close to being able top tackle him, but he was suffering a compounded mental collapse and over-dithered again. I think both are absolutely lock-stock hand-in-hand issues, the inner knowledge that his feet are not his best friends added to an inexplicable lack of concentration compounded by insecurity after the error.

I was of the opinion we should've tried to get Navas on an emergency loan, but there ya go, we didn't. I now think if we do not get a keeper in early January who can play Ange's system (and is able to get down to shots faster too) it will be a criminal act.

What's vital -IMO- right now, is that we continue to play as we play, that we continue to trust him as best we can (with those important modifications) and that he -as the senior pro- steps up, takes it on the chin and declares he's ready for Sunday! I would be beyond angry if Sunday saw us start hoofing it all the time; thankfully that won't happen.

Tbh think it would be pointless to go out of our way to sign someone in Jan. If we can get a longer-term solution at backup GK then great, otherwise we sign someone for 1-2 games until Vicario is back which seems like a waste of wages and energy. Might as well wait til the summer.
