Traditionally, Liverpool away is one of our hardest match every season. After all, we have a very poor record there. But we cannot let our past records affect us now. We need to win all our remaining 7 matches to have any chance of winning the league. So, we simply need to win this match, somehow. An encouraging sign was we drew with them at home earlier in the season after losing the previous 5 matches to them. We also have a great away record this season. We need to call upon that record to get the all important win here. Hope we will have all our best available players back for this match.
No doubt Kane will be our key player in this match. If we want to win this match, Kane simply must score ! He has been in great form lately, scoring 6 goals in 4 starts for us and England. Hope he can continue his goal scoring form by getting another goal or two here. Erik Edman once scored a long range wonder goal when we drew 2-2 at Liverpool in 2005. Won't mind if our current Erik, Lamela, scores a wonder goal like that. Lamela has not been scoring many league goals for us. This will be the best time to start scoring more goals.
This match will be won or lost in midfield. Liverpool have a quality midfield which can hurt us if we give them enough time. So, we need to control the midfield to have any chance of winning this match. This is where the likes of Dier, Dembele and Alli can play an important role. We have to make sure Liverpool don't get much time to control the ball. We need to stop them from starting their attacks from midfield. Eriksen can really help us if he can score from any freekicks we get in this match.
Our defence did well to keep clean sheets in our last 2 matches. It will help us greatly if we can keep another clean sheet here. It is going to be very difficult but it is not impossible. We need to be alert all the times and avoid any silly mistakes in defence. Want us to concentrate on safety-first defending instead of trying to be too ambitious. For one, we need to avoid giving those unnecessary back pass to Lloris as he doesn't seems to be comfortable dealing with them. Also, want us to avoid those unnecessary dribblings and back-flicks near our goal area.
Can see this being a very difficult match. But we have no choice but to win this match to stay in touch with Leicester. Hope we can do just that by getting that all important win in this match !
