So will post on this thread, scored his 8th goal of the season this evening. Every game it looks more and more daft to sell him.
Hard to believe you’ll ever see a bigger disparity between money spent and end result (of a tfr window).

I
We shouldn't have paid 75m for a player they paid 35m for and who failed for them
Sure, but especially don't pay £75m for a bad RW when the reason City even wanted him in the first place is because of what he was doing on the left.

The whole thing baffles me. We have Kudus already for the right so why pay £75m for a inferior backup option when the left has flipping Mathys Tel starting game after game. If we really bought he for the right we are macarons because there's are probably 10 players who all would cost the same or less that would do a better job than him and what we needed is a fudging LW not a competition RW.

well if you look at it alongside our other transfer business its completely on brand

We had a few chances there tonight. Savio has to do better, Gallagher was selfish on the one that led to the corner/goal, Marmoush should score when their keeper made a great save. That’s 3 good chances in 20 minutes.

Goals will come. Not at Son/Kane level but they’ll come. Solanke and Marmoush have goals in them IMO.
We have had chances in every game
But they aren’t being taken because the players that are getting them aren’t players who score goals
And he won’t (IMO) play Solanke and Marmoush together in an effective way imo

I’d be grateful if you could refrain from taking the same liberties with the truth in this thread that you do in the politics one.

Many thanks.

Your arguing we should have signed Watkins he was only interested in the getting his money so that’s what it would have cost to make it happen.

I get that we have to pay over the odds to get players to join us especially when we have no european football but every club with lot smaller budgets than us seem to turn up gems every season. We are not playing too badly but the lack of goals is really concerning, plus the amount we are conceding. I have dreaded it for the last couple of seasons but I am really dreading playing Arsenal and Chelsea this year.

You said effective and then said Solanke. That's the key issue there in your sentence.
No CF is effective in a system where the style is to another midfield and not make forward passes
That’s the managers tactics
Could see it tonight when the CMs went backwards rather than forwards way way too often

Not sure who the gems are this season
Maybe someone at Hull who have been great

I think we should have kept Lankshear. But had we sold Mathys Tel to to Boro he would be their best player and banging in the goals as well. I’ve seen West Ham fans saying Solomon is world class. The gap in levels between the Prem and the Champ is huge.

I think everyone is focused on the wrong things. Could we have better players than Tel, Gallagher & Solanke? yes

Have lots of PL teams over the years managed mid table type results with way worse players? absolutely, and this is the issue.

RDZ will fail is we have to have perfect players, all playing a perfect system to win. On quality, we should beat the bottom 12 or so teams, right now, we can't do that.

Who will score the goals?
When he was at Brighton, according to ChatGPT, his top scorer was Evan Ferguson with a goal every 3.5 games or so (12 goals in total). No one bettered that number or rate. Even Welbeck was 1 goal every 6 games. No one was prolific but the team scored goals.

We have plenty of lads who can easily score goals at those rates.

what were their defensive numbers like though...

This is my problem. Why don’t we go and buy the 35m version (or the like).

It’s just lazy and inept. Players thrust under our noses and we bite their hands off.
We clearly over paid significantly in the summer for alot of what we did in the market. Much of which was needed, but to be now told we shouldn't expect much despite what we spent, I find that laughable

So to be clear you think we should have signed Watkins on a £820k PW 4 year deal?
No,

Last year we had issues with our attack; and what was the best solution we came up with? Selling our top scorer from two years ago. Our top scorer last season was Richarlison—whom De Zerbi took a dislike to—so what exactly do we expect from Solanke, who is coming back from injury?
And seriously, Solanke scored around ten goals once with Bournemouth, and now everyone’s acting like he’s a prolific goalscorer...

I’ll say it again and stand by it: there are too many incompetent people at Tottenham; I’d even go so far as to say they’re sabotaging the club.
Just thinking about that scumbag who came over from Arsenal makes me sick.

Last season, Lookman left Inter for 35 million, I think, while we went for Gallagher.

This year—for fudge's sake—there was Ramos, a pure goalscorer; he went to AC Milan.
Vlahović was on the transfer market for ages, and we did nothing.
We signed two midfielders for, what, 200 million?
Yes, Fernández is a massive talent—a huge player in the making—but we didn't necessarily need Tonali.
Instead, we should have kept João for 30 million; he showed real grit and goal-scoring ability.
We let Vušković leave—he surely would have been smashing in headers from corners for us.
But no, we signed Senesi...
We should have kept Spence and sold Udogie.
We sell off the likes of Lansheark... what is the point of our academy?

I’ve got a lot weighing on my mind; we’ve been suffering for season after season. Every weekend I have hope, and every weekend I end up demoralized.
I’ve loved this club since '90, even though I’m neither a Londoner nor English.
But you deserve better, and we all do, because we love this club.
