We clearly over paid significantly in the summer for alot of what we did in the market. Much of which was needed, but to be now told we shouldn't expect much despite what we spent, I find that laughable

I'd swap last seasons squad for this in a heartbeat, and I'd bet big money we'd look much better and have more points

I think we should have kept Lankshear. But had we sold Mathys Tel to to Boro he would be their best player and banging in the goals as well. I’ve seen West Ham fans saying Solomon is world class. The gap in levels between the Prem and the Champ is huge.

I agree with the point I think you are making.

Which forward would be effective in this system though, the chances we create are for late runners into the box, we never get the front line in behind, or even one on one, we don't make enough crosses to favour an aerial threat.

This system is a problem too.

I said in the window we should have gone for Calvert Lewin. He’s in a different league to Solanke - so hungry and up for it. Check out his jump last night for the goal. Then there’s Stach - top player - always looking to go forward.

Brighton I’ve seen twice, the lad who’s 20 but looks much older looks very lively. And the Greek forward took his goal beautifully.

Then there are is the Ipswich wide lads and the Hull guys. And the Brentford guy who ran rings round us. And Scharde (we were desperate for a left sided goal contributor). He’s head and shoulders above Tel.

Appreciate some of them are new and some are existing. There’s also plenty of non prem.

For me one of the reasons we are not scoring is our lack of aggression and urgency. Too many touches moving the ball side to side. Not enough ball progression or pressing high up the pitch. Take Gallagher tonight, his greatest attribute is his energy and pressing. But there was none of that tonight. When he plays like that he doesn't offer enough. Fortunately he did score but other than that didn't affect the game enough. Mateus Fernandes is a really clever passer. Why didn't he start? RDZ 's team selections and the lack of energy is definitely contributing to our lack of goals.

For large parts of this game we didn't show enough urgency, or aggression which is surprising for an RDZ team. There was so little in the way of us pressing them high up the pitch. Liverpool pressed our goalkeeper whereas we stood off their's. Some quality in patches but not enough across the game. Solanke sub, for me was too late. Marmoush, Savio and Fernandes looked good, Gallagher, goal aside and Tel were poor. Kudus playing himself back to fitness. Lots of work for RDZ to do. The result tonight was not surprising tbh I don't think we ever looked convincing enough to win.

My friend,The moment you don't play a player in his natural position, it destabilizes the team.

Tosin—or another center-back—needs to be put at right-back, plain and simple.
You don't play Gray in that position; the young man was the best midfielder when he was at Leeds—they sabotaged him; he should be playing in midfield.

Savinho has to play on the left wing; Roberto De Zerbi, don't try pulling the same stunt you did at Marseille.

I agree the system isn't working in terms of creating. I'm willing to wait until I see a 10 and Fernandes in midfield and a decent LW (which might never happen) before I write off the entire system.

What I saw in the last 15ish minutes once we had Maddison and Fernandes is what somewhere more what I think RDZ wants to see.

The passes were going in more quickly to Marmoush and in much better situations. Feed him enough of those per game and I feel confident he will get some goals for us and offer threat. Suddenly we were a threat in behind whereas all game those chances went begging because Bergvall and Gallagher just couldn't hit those those spots accurately.

Solanke and Marmoush are capable of at least matching the scoring rates that Ferguson got for him at Brighton. Kudus, Savio and a fit Maddison or Deki would also get their fair share while Tonali and Bentancur could chip in too.

We have no obvious goalscorer in the Kane or Som mould - that I’ll accept. But there is no way the players we have are incapable of chipping in with the numbers that De Zerbi’s Brighton scored.

Most of these players are known quantities
I thought you was referring to some unknowns
Brighton unearth them but they generally don’t do as well in a less stable team
The nearly bald lad played in the championship last what and no one really knew anything about him
DCL Suits Leeds and it’s a great move for him
What these teams have and also those clubs have is a plan (ish) and a a consistency were a long way away from

Pedro is Marmoush esque in play style. He largely played off the 9 at Brighton. He's precisely the same model of striker that Marmoush and Kroupi are.

And yes I wanted him when he was at Brighton.

Pedro got 9 in 31. Another rate that 2 or 3 of our lads can easily match.

I have to take the positives from that game.
We played pretty well, sometimes actually good, in periods of that game.
The chances we created were quality chances and I'd rather create three or four quality chances than five or six half chances.
It was more minutes in the legs and more time together on the pitch for allowing connections to be made.
When maddison, fernadez and robertson came on we looked better.
Tosin looks very capable with a good bit of fight in him.
Despite playing a backline that have never played together and had no proper RB they needed three worldies to beat us.
We can take a lot from that game.

The trouble is Savio looks like Tel mk2 at the moment and the rest of our expensive signings look very average. I said very early in the thread about the players Pool had on the bench. We did not have one player in our squad who can hit a ball like all 3 of their goals. I keep hearing the same old talk, just wait until it gels but I just cant see it. And lets not forget their starting line up was no where near full strength. If we cant get a result at the weekend I think the alarm bells will really be sounding loud

Savio looks way more threatening than Tel ever does, he's much quicker, has decent dribbling skills and has shown willingness to run and players and beat them. We don't have enough players in the box when he puts a ball in. Overall I think he's looked good whenever he's played but doesn't look fully fit yet.
