*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Emirates Marketing Project ***

We had a lot of players who could have stopped that attack
So the system allowed for the numbers needed (not something we always see)
But the lack of decisiveness needed was stark and scary
We are frequently seeing players ball watch and as I said before that was a Romero trait and he ain’t playing
But I don’t believe they are coached to watch the ball
So I don’t know what’s going on
Bad coaching.

The system doesn't focus on how to deal with these situations, I've come to the conclusion that no matter who we play unless that player is individually completely clued up they will look clueless in this "defence" that Ange puts out.

So forget being solid, it's not going to happen. We need to pummel the opposition into submission forget well defending, it ain't happening.

It's kinda reverse Mourinho where with him it looked as though we set the defensive shape and tactics, including overloading the defensive numbers and then left the attacking play to the individuals to figure out

The only difference being that Mourinho had two of the best forwards in the world. When left with a lot of freedom, Son and Kane were almost unstoppable. Unfortunately, the rest of our team didn't have what it takes to thrive in such a system but, at least, I can understand the logic of giving free reign to a top attacking player. Leaving the best defenders to fend for themselves doesn't seem such a good idea.

I think there is a lot of leeway being given to the players in these statements
They should and could be doing better

That's 100% Mourinho's tactics. He's said it many times, he leaves his forwards to work it out for themselves. What he cares about is the structure behind them. It's the same reason he needs absolute top class forwards, because he needs them to pretty much work it out for themselves

And you're making leeway for the poor coaching and poor preparation. If the coach is unable to get the players to perform as he wants them to then the coaches delivery isn't working. No coach tells their players to go out and do donut actions yet they happen week in week out across all leagues and all levels. The great coaches are those that are able to convey their message across to their players and get the performances required.

That why I’m no convinced he is coaching them to do that
It literally makes no sense
And players could and should know better. It’s almost as if they have no brain
