OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton - Sunday 6 October at 4.30 pm **

Complacency or boredom?

If he wants to play for Real Madrid he won’t be allowed to get away with such basic errors.
I think there's possibly a reason that rumoured Real interest hasn't come to anything so far. VDV will be taken off our hands by an elite club. 100% he's gone this summer or next if we don't show serious signs of progression. Romero not so sure. Think he could end up being one of those furniture players that ends up letting us down regularly but at the same time being one of the more prominent squad players and media personalities. Like a 2020s Eric Dier.

I’m convinced it doesn’t matter who they play at the back as whoever they play will miss a boat load of chances like Dortmund did and Madrid score with the one shot they have.

Far more talented than Dier but agree with the rest.

I've gone through the pain of watching the game again, and I honestly can't believe how it's possible to get such an Jekyll and Hyde performance in the space of virtually minutes! Some of it is tactical naivety, but the players need to take a hard look on themselves, because what they served for the most part of the 2nd half, ain't fudging Ange-ball! It was weak, uninspired and sloppy like a porn film blow job!
I really don't understand how it's possible to have such a huge disparity in performance in such a short time! And they never seem to learn, because we've all seen this before for years!

You dont get MOTD 2 I assume the Nordic’s but they did an analysis on it and were quick to highlight first half they were a yard off everything. We start second half 5 yards off and they show it with the pressing …. It was non existent second half and with solanke leading there was no one centrally following him. Quite grim to see it that clear

100%. Brighton are a very good team. This was a tough test and the absolute anger I feel after this game is that for 45 mins we totally trashed them but then just switched off to the fact that this is the PL and that Brighton are a top half team easily. It's not rocket science that they're going to get a rocket up their arse at half time, that their manager and coaching staff are going to be in there showing them analysis of how to nullify what we did first half. The idea that we could just go out and play the same game again is just naive in the extreme. And I'm starting to think that might be angeball. Naivety. Bit like Kevin Keegan's Saudi Sportswashing Machine: when it works it's amazing to watch. But you'll never grind out a result when you're having an off day (please don't tell me Coventry and Borat FC were grinding out wins) and you'll never see out a result like this in the circumstances.

For me, it was simply about application. If we applied ourselves like we did in the first-half we'd have been fine. Brighton upped their press and aggression, we backed off both. We simply didn't show the appetite for the fight; it felt like immaturity, the sort which needs experienced leadership on the pitch to sort out fast as it's happening.

Yep
100%
The tactics were fine
Not one of them goals was because of how we’re meant to play
It was almost as if they thought the job was done and Ange and Maddison have both inferred that in the post match stuff

Exactly. MASSIVELY disappointing!
Some of the players that are guilty of this mentality are the senior pros though- Romero as I've dug out before is guilty of going into coast mode regularly. Maddison himself hasn't been immune. Bissouma is anothrr one that can be a bit casual and they're the only regular starters outside Son that are over the age of 25 right? So what chance have we got?

Angle even said that
Exactly. MASSIVELY disappointing!

Maybe we just thought we'd roll out there and play well again, and that's not how it works, and we paid for it.

"We've conceded before but it is how you react and our reaction wasn't what it should be. It's a bad day for us and when it's a bad day the responsibility falls at my feet."

He said: “Feedback is always what I believe in. I’m sure the players are disappointed. I don’t care. They should be. I’m disappointed, the fans are disappointed. They need to know what you can lose a game of football but the disappointment comes from not doing the basics you need to play at this level.”

But maybe they are the issue
It’s hard to tell
Romero does have a recurrence of switching off and personally I dont see that ever changing
Ndogie since he has been here has 3 or 4 games a season where he is bad…. Really bad
That’s half a defence if it’s the same game and same issues
You fix it with a bit more depth and real completion.
I’m picking on those two as they are ones that never get dropped
