*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton & Hove Albion FC ***

The players taken out were pretty much as expected. Would have thought Johnson would get another start though. Not that I'm complaining. Also, Scarlett over Kolo Muani on the bench?

But who else do we have right now to rotate with kudus
And we also need the attack to take their chances
I love Kudus but also don’t want to break him
Against a team who like possession we can counter more and that suits Johnson (would also suit kudus no doubt)
I know you hate Johnson but the lack of goals form attack will become an issue
I don't hate Johnson, I just don't rate Johnson. 😅

But that wasn't the reason for my comment, it's just you said you want possession but taking off our best holder of the ball in the final third for our worst kind of defeats the purpose of what you wanted, that's all.

Lack of goals is more down to poor creation than it is finishing. Adding Johnson over Kudus worsens our creation so I think it kind of defeats the purpose. We would have less control of the ball and few chances with Johnson than if we play Kudus.

We will see
I was wrong last weekend wuth the changes which worked

Surprised Muani isn't on the bench. Maybe a knock or similar.

He's not really fit given his lack of pre season and we saw against Villarreal he was struggling fitness wise.

Odobert must be impressing in training too
Frank is working the round robin of potential LW starters to see who best fits the bill. Johnson, Tel and Xavi have all had a go with none convincing. Now it's Odobert chance. I think he's the best fit tbh so hopefully he puts in a good performance and can grab the role because no one else there has done a good job or suits.

Some of you said that we couldn't progress the ball properly against Bournemouth, partly because a pair of Palhinha and Bentancur are too defensive and don't often pass forwards, meaning we ended up banging it long and it kept coming back to us.
So there is a big onus on Bergvall/Odobert to combine and take us up the pitch, plus of course Richie/Kudus fighting for balls vs big hairy defenders.

ALSO against Bournemouth they shut down Romero/Porro because they knew that is the core of our progressive passing i.e. they allowed VdV and Spence (and Palhinha and Bentancur) to have the ball.

So those are 2 massive things to watch out for, do they man mark (press) Romero and Porro.
And do Palhinha/Bentancur actually dare to pass the ball FORWARDS rather than chickening out and just going back and side and back and side.

Agree. To be fair Tel hasn't played left winger under Frank though....
