Definitely. But you've got to ask questions of a system that functions this badly without one particular player. It's after a long break and so on, but fudging hell, why isn't the collective working better than this? It's so rough around the edges still.

We have played like this multiple times even with Bentancur in the team, I don’t think he changes much.

Does this game put to bed the silly idea that all problems with our side sprout directly from Emerson Royal's boot?

Far too often I've seen and even had discussions where the argument that somehow Emerson's presence means that none of the other players are capable of the basics.

We just aren't as good as we want to be and as good as we need to be.
