Odobert is cooked. Gave everything fist half and was brilliant (he’s a great sub some issues with stamina to deliver at that level all game). So Frank needs to get him off - posted the same in this thread before the sub.

Then we setup in a very attacking way to try and win the game - Kudus and Richi thru the middle, Tel left and Mauni right. You’re complaining that Franknisnt attacking enough or going for it. But that was brave. There was immensely frustrating moments when Richi needs to find a 5 yard pass and both Kudus and Muani are free to sprint at goal.

But because there are some with an agenda. Who want to be proved right - it turns into an anti-frank thing. You even have some sorry fans who pay to go, wanting to put the boot in on Frank. You'd think they would have better more postive things to do. Clearly some miserable sods out there.

Rebuilding doesn't have to equate to what we are seeing.

What you don't seem to comprehend is that people have been praising when we have played well, and criticising when not playing well. The problem is that our poor turgid football has far outweighed anything resembling positive and that's why there are far more negative comments....

Especially the complete inability of most of those players to string ONE correct pass, particularly when under the smallest of pressure? The first prerequisite for any coherent football is having players who can actually pass the ball.... and we lack them big time (and the few we do are injured)... thanks to horrendous buying over the past decade.

This is my stance, I don't believe what people are asking for is really possible with this slate of players. That doesn't excuse the performances or even a lack of intent, but it does explain the low quality. I'm baffled by what people expect to see?

There have been some dreadful home performances - agreed on that. I actually enjoyed yesterday though. We were strong at the back and there was always the possibility and hope we could nick a goal. Until the end we’re in the game and looking for the win. Our play on the break is improving. Younger players are improving - Odobert first half, Gray not making key mistakes tho wasn’t able to convert changes either. I liked our calm approach on the break yesterday. Trying to work the ball and whilst decimated in attack, we made openings to score. There incremental improvements. Not much but it’s there to see that we’re going forward.

The narratives build - mostly online - so you reach this point that as soon as things are not perfect people like sheep follow the dominant narrative. It’s not a spurs thing is a malady of modern society. I’ve always ignored the noise and focused on my own opinions, which has done well for me. I used to question my own opinions which often differed to the consensus. But when it made me wealthier than PL footballers I started to trust my analysis and lean into them. I also know what it takes to run organisations, build companies or restructure them. How mangmwnt works in the real world and how long it can take. What kind of people do a good job with it, and the approach they need to take. In Frank we have a manager who’s as good as we can get (right now but top draw probably given time). He may not be able to instil instant success but he can incrementally. He’s not the fastest to analyse and get developments, but he will over time.

My only concern is our home form. The edgy atmosphere at home and how intimidated Frank and the team are playing in front of their own baying fans. And dominant narratives - predominantly online - matter here. Everything is amplified. People arrive pizzed off wanting to affirm those negative narratives. Instead of taking an us against the world approach: we’re fighting to improve. Where is the ‘I don’t care what you think we’re in it together’ and we’re coming for you come what may?

With this kind of support, players don’t fear making mistakes. Because the fan base has them. They get more freedom to play, feel looser, more relaxed. How Frank handles the home conundrum is key. Fans are fans. And in this modern world are drawn to negativity.

Seeing us create some decent openings. Obviously we're underpowered in attack. But our setup was just right, keeping them out and creating openings, but we need more quality in attack. Who'd have thought when missing Kulu, Maddison and Solanke?

I agree those were the positive bits. But _quality_? If so, we need a new definition of quality.
Bentancur and Odobert was the only small sparks of joy.

Don't get me wrong. I do most certainly think we have quality in our squad. But we displayed next to no measurable quantity of it yesterday. Not in the way I define quality. I'm a simple soul, I look at football as an entertainment value. Excitement, joy, tension, drama and occationally some boiling blood, these are all parts of what I enjoy with the beautiful game. Flashes of brilliance from a single player, most certainly quality. Fast-paced combinations leading to clearcut attacking chances, definately quality. A strong, cohesive defensive unit shutting down a superior enemy, equally can be quality. But as far as I'm concerned, we saw none of that yesterday.

We saw a rather poor match between Brentford 1 and Brentford 2, where neither team looked to be anywhere near Brentford of previous year.

As for the setup being just right, that depends on the follow-up question: Right for what? The -only- right setup? And our -best- right setup? The answer to all of those may well be yes, but in that case, what have we become? And is that what we desire to be?

Here’s my appx take on that game:

1. go there and setup for more expansive football and we probably have less than 1 in 10 chance to win it.

There is a lack of respect to Brentford. Hard to travel there and not get beaten.

2. Setup as Frank did, and our XG was fractionally in our favour. So call it 6 out of 10 times we’d win it.

We were in that game to the end. Finished the stronger team and had chances to nick all three points at the end.

Were we the perfect polished outfit? Of course not! But wtf are people expecting with a very limited attacking squad playing only a feed before. A team with clear issues and holes, missing our first choice 3 attackers from last season. Under the circumstances we did amazing.

We are developing a foundation. Something to be able to play better from.

I dont think (well in my case anyway) its about would rather lose playing well. But its about accepting the results being average whilst seeing a decent style of play being embedded. If there was a more positive intent shown, and results not go our way in the first season that would be accepted somewhat - Looking at season 2, you would then be more focused on results and a bit more expectation on that side of things to supplement the style that was being attempted from season 1.

Squad issues or not, this football was never going to be accepted by the vast majority of fans - we all know this....

Wilson gave everything first half? He didnt take on his man once, loads of space behind their right back and always came inside.

If you are going to have three cloggers centrally (not TF fault) then surely the tactic is to go out wide and cross?
