*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v AFC Bournemouth ***

Look, it happened last season. Ange plays a high demand system and you get injuries. A lot of those injuries are in defence because the defenders are constantly going up, turning and running back and throwing themselves last ditch into things. The wheels came off around this time last season as fatigue and injuries set in and our results nose dived. We haven't been as consistent from the start this season but we've hit the same brick wall it seems.

I don't think anyone has suggested we should be winning the league.

We shouldn't be bottom half and getting pumped every other week

I think this is part of the dilemma. I'd like to feel we should be winning the league given the size of our club and our position as the third biggest sporting club in the world. However I am also a realist and know we are set-up on a longer-term football model which sees most investments retaining a great deal of their value -if not more- over at least three years. Let's face it, we were never going to take a punt of players like Dybala when they were there to be had...

I read somewhere that the club changed the fitness team in the summer? Not sure if that is true? I think a lot of the issues we have is how we train/prepare for deceleration AFTER fast burst movement (bear in mind I am not a physio so 'might' be talking gonads BUT it makes sense to me, especially given VdV's injuries)...

I looked into our staff the other week for a post on here about how inexperienced it is. Do you know how old our head fitness coach is? 25! EdIt: 35 not 25, inexperienced, but not that inexperienced!

Everything has gone up. We now have a cheaper manager and lower wage bill.

We should be performing better than what we are, but we have said that under every manager. And I know people will say Levy has spent money blah blah. But I feel each manager wants an extra something and we rarely get it. We hold onto players longer than we should.

Football under Enic is not the priority. Ange will go and we will be back to doing what we have been doing for the last 25yrs. We have just been lucky we haven't had a tonking. And when someone does give it to us, I think Ange is gone. And it could be Sunday. And even if by some miracle we get a result. You know we gonna lose the very next game.

We ain't beating Southampton and Wolves

I'm now detached from it all😀

Someone has decided to keep him. I hoped Djed had played his way into the manager's frame. It seems very clear that the only reason he is still here is because we wouldn't purchase another FB and someone has told Ange to work with him. I presume (at this point) that person is Lange?
And I think it's this destroys all the managers we have!! It has to become disheartening if you are at work and told this what you have. You ask for a pen and get a crayon. And then you wonder why your picture doesn't look like what you want.

Nobody can explain why Spence cannot kick a ball when Ange would rather play the ball boy than him.

I'm not even mad anymore....it will play out how it plays out and we all know how it ends. Ange won't change. Our system of buying players won't change........

I'm tired of these excuses tbh - we're rebuilding - you don't get everything you want or need in those circumstances, managers have to adapt and work with what they have sometimes - good managers deal with that.

There are posters here who are on one hand defending Ange saying he needs time to rebuild the team and several windows to do so while also knocking the club for not giving him everything he needs right away - which is it, are we rebuilding which takes time or are we not? Make your bloody minds up

Nothing like a majority wanted Poch sacked, just a few knee-jerkers (and look how that’s turned out for them).
I loved Poch, but I think it was the Brighton game? Hugo fell on his shoulder. And i just thought he looked broken. And I thought for him it was best he went. He did so well for so long with buying nobody. Just felt he looked disillusioned. Anyhow we can't keep banging on about it. We are where we are now

Both can be true at the same time😊. We are all just guessing and taking at face value what Ange says and what actually happens. Maybe he isn't the guy who has a Conte meltdown, but still not happy with what he has to work with.

I was/am wanting him to get time. But now as it becomes clear that it seems he is reluctant to adapt (at times he has, not often!) And when we have injury crisis and his decision making seems weird at times. Like most managers. If results continue, he won't last.

Someone needs to last longer than 18mths unless it's relegation

-------------Lloris-------------

Walker/Trippier - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Rose

---------Demeble - Wanyama/Dier-------

---------Eriksen - Dele- Son-----

--------------Kane--------------

Ah, memories. Then we get Sissoko, Sanchez, Aurier, Foyth, Moura, N'Dombele, Lo Celso...

With some proper recruitment who knows what might have happened?

Not to mention that we decided it best not to sign anyone for a few transfer windows and let our team run itself into the ground.

I've very much been in the "don't adapt more than you do Ange" camp.

Right now may be the exception to that. I struggle to see how we can get anything other than new disappointments in the coming weeks with our injuries and ongoing fatigue issues playing Ange ball.

We don't have a lot of players coming back soon. Almost all our key players look to be running on fumes. Squad players are doing fine enough, but are really unlikely to lift us to the level needed.

The one way to play Ange ball through this period imo would have been with rather heavy rotation. Starting with the Roma game. We're seeing some of that, but not enough to make a big enough difference on fatigue.

Put it down to the thin squad. Thought we looked disjoined up top. Not quite in harmony. Maybe because the forwards are not as fresh as they should be.

To press and then perform when in possession, playing every few days, Ange needs a couple more bodies. Richarlison and Odbert have been big gaps in the squad.

Fully agreed.

The scary thing is that it doesn't look like it's going to work itself out any time soon. Barring a January spending spree anyway. The ongoing fatigue is likely to cause new injuries before those currently out are back.

Hope the fitness situation is a bit better than my impression of it.

It was never going to be an easy game even full strength. And it isn’t frequent that we fail to register a goal. We did have Werner and Bergvail to bring on. But yes missing our second forward for half the season is going to leave us stretched. Oderbert also injected some energy and gile which would have been valuable.

But we still have excellent players in attack. We didn’t create much for them as we were chasing the game and they got back in numbers. I thought we looked too frantic (and tired) when attacking. Lacked an extra touch sometimes, we’d lose the ball too easily trying to break. They marshalled our runs well, and were fresher.
