*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur FC v Manchester United ***

Just watching quick highlights
1st goal was terrible from Sarr in not clearing the ball
2nd goal, I feel Vicario could have done a lot better really
Was a header from 5 yards out, he really should have forced himself through to catch or punch the ball.
Instead he backed into the net to try to come around the players and save it that way. He really needs to start commanding his area, especially the 6 yard line where keepers are allowed to get away with being aggressive.

Somewhat better in terms of performance again. At least trying to play through the middle. But still very much safety first in the first half. I maintain that while Sarr can be a more progressive runner (particularly off the ball) than Bentancur, Bentancur is capable of more on the ball than Sarr in terms of ball progression. I think we missed Bentancur. And Sarr looked to be playing to instructions (again, safety first) of not making a lot of those forward runs.

I think our two quick goals and the disappointment of their equaliser overshadows a somewhat mediocre attacking performance up until that point. But with Kudus being out in addition to those previously injured it's not a big surprise exactly.

Good to see Tel get a goal, showing a bit of what he can do. Another quite promising performance from Odobert. Simons looking better. Probably a bit controversial, but think Johnson too is looking a bit better. Particularly given that he essentially gets zero of the service we know he really thrives on (good balls in behind and chances to finish).

Didn't see the game and not seen any highlights yet, but finding the response to Sub strange considering it seems each had an impact when coming on. Anyway as I say, taken on face value and I suppose someone will correct that.

I think some have clearly made their minds up on Frank before a ball is kicked this season, maybe sulking on the profile of manager they wanted, 11 league games in and I wasn't expecting Prime 70s Brazil, broken record time, but whoever takes the job needs time and I mean that if all the weirdos on socials now with "Frankout" got their way.

This squad needs so much work and the injuries have exposed that further, I get the "you can't play Richy" etc, but with the depth being as is, you have to, you don't have too much choice currently, if he was picking him ahead of Solanke or Kane then I would question the sanity, but he ain't.

I've not seen the game but talked to my son who went and we both think our major problem is the forwards. Apart from Kudus none seem able to keep possession or beat a player.
I know the midfield lack creativity but weve all seen teams like that be successful due to an outstanding forward, Liverpool are a classic case.

He was blocked by mount who did a slight hold on him .. exactly as we did to Pickford
He got sway by stepping back and that’s why he was where he was

Sums up my thoughts. Really disappointed with the booing when the change for Xavi was made. I must admit to being confused by that and the Muani one at half time but booing Isnt going to help the confidence of the players coming on. Really chuffed when Tel scored. 2 decent goals recently; perhaps TF can make him into a striker?!

The ball form midfield yesterday was miles better
But we had Richy and Muani coming central together first half and the only chance was a great ball into Richy who completely fudged the header
The clear issue yesterday, and MOTD showed it was our attacking threat was right sided because we had no left side
Spence can’t okay Frank’s football on the left and Richy wanted to play CF
Second half he should have take off Richy and Porro (who was having a mare) and played destiny left back as a minimum
Manically was injured so it now makes sense why he kept Richy on
Keeping porro in as long as he did was a bad call… he is a tired tired player
Odobert was too notch when he came on and also covered well defensively. He looked much happier when he had his hair twin on too and they really upped the game on the left

Muani had an injury
The booing was always coming when a manager takes off the one player trying to get us going
It really had conte vibes when he lost a CB (Romero red) so brought another on

Its funny though because I suspect Simons was having a good game, but ironically loads has been made of Simons poor start, so sensible to manage him into the league whilst also adding energy to the game, which again from my earlier post worked.

There seems to be a cloud covering Spurs fans in this respect though, I can't put my finger on it, but this season seems the most reactionary I have seen with our fanbase, for a club with its known injuries, lack of depth and manage change, being 3rd (ok its close) and going fairly well in the CL, I think some of it is ridiculous if all its about is style and being a little bored at games (something I still expect to change when better players return and come in)

I should probably preface by saying I like Frank, haven’t liked the reaction to him so far, hate the booing and certainly think he should be given time.

The issue for me yesterday was that it looked like it was going to be one of those games where it didn’t matter what we did, we were never going to score.

The subs for me, at the time of them actually taking place - Simons genuinely had a good game, in the first half he was coming shorter, getting the ball and carrying it forward, and throughout he was one of very few that looked like he could actually be the one to play the pass that got us in. So when we took him off I, a.) just felt a bit sorry for him, but b.) mostly worried about it being fine to bring forwards on, but who was actually going to play them in? We were lacking creativity and were taking our one creative player off. We also, took him off for Tel who, for me, hasn’t really shown much of anything. Of course he needs chances to do that, but yesterday Richarlison had been so bad, to me it made more sense to take Richy off for Tel but leave Xavi to keep trying to create.

Tel then goes on to score (albeit deflected, but it was a great touch and turn to get himself there) but he proved me wrong by showing he could finish. I think the complaints about the subs overall - they worked out for the best (nearly) and this is why Frank earns the big bucks, but I could definitely understand the complaints at the time given the way certain players were performing, though I don’t agree with booing subs.

The squad depth would look an issue at any club in the league if they had 10 players out, maybe with the exception of Chelsea.

And I totally agree re people getting hung up on playing Richy, if Solanke was fit or even Muani (only been available the last 2 weeks) then his minutes would have been very limited so far, but needs must.

Similar with the assumption that Frank somehow doesn’t understand that playing a left footed left back helps with the balance, had Udogie been fit this season he’d have been playing most games, there’s no doubt in my mind about that, the idea that after being out injured for a while we could just start him in 2 games in 3-4 days is madness, the same people would probably blame Frank if Udogie broke down injured again.

Agree and I get that, but then in hindsight you say "hands up he got it right" and nearly played a blinder. People won't balance that though in many instances, its Franks not good enough, Franks baffling etc.

I keep seeing this "this isn't Brentford" like they were not a proficient PL for many years and he was a HUGE part of them even being in the PL. I find the level of snobbishness in the fanbase really pretty restrictive

I hate booing but during the game especially - it helps no one. Agree about Tel, I was hoping to see more of him up front after he scored a good goal against Leeds but then barely seen him. Another nice goal yesterday, he's showing really good technical skill before getting the shot off - was the same for the Leeds goal.

I'd put him up front ahead of Richi, and give him a few games in the league to give him a fair chance. If it doesn't work out then fine, but it's not like anyone else is pulling up any trees there. Also really like his attitude especially when considering he's barely getting a look in.....

Oh 100%, as I say, it worked in terms of us nearly winning the game so looking back absolutely fair play to him and the same to Tel for getting his goal. I wonder if some people are perhaps just never happy, I definitely feel there’s a large section of the fanbase for whom they have used the EL win to completely wipe us finishing 17th last season. Some definitely seem to think we should be flying and that the team was always much better than last seasons performances (it is, but not to THAT extent). Performances can be frustrating, but I think it’s fairly clear where the issues lay and it’s not with the manager.

Agree on the Brentford bit, I did see a post the other day about how Brentford are doing alright so “what did Frank really do there” …I think it’s just football fans, and unfortunately we seem to have gained a large percentage of the worst ones!

Tel shows urgency
Richy doesn’t show
Richy has no confidence now too and looks a broken man on the pitch
Muani keeps the ball
It sticks with him more than those two
The most obvious issue at the game yesterday was Udogie not starting… right from the start we lost half the pitch as an attacking threat

Agree about Udogie but I don't get why everyone was whinging about it on here. Hes only just come back from injury and is quite clearly prone to injury so Frank and the team are obviously being cautious.

Everyone was complaining about how Ange was treating the players, and Frank is managing players minutes more cautiously and I'd certainly expect him to with an important player like Udogie when we have no natural backup....

Because he played mid week
Was he really injured or just taken out because of what happened.
And because the starting line up was seriously weakened with the selection

Its playground year 11 logic, its actually unreal what comes out of peoples mouths when it comes to football honestly.

I remember when the same was said about Howe and I said on here, I put taking Bournemouth up 4 times in nearly 4 years and establishing them in the PL for those years made him a VERY VERY good manager, people would not have it.

Footballs a fcuking tough game to master as a manager and one us plebs have boiled down to a handful of arguments that we have a logic in our heads, usually shouted about by those most frustrated of failed players and managers
