*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur FC v Aston Villa ***

Spot on. And don't get me wrong, I don't agree with the booing - my view is, you pays your money and you takes your chances, more or less.

But it's just inevitable given the changing composition of football crowds these days. There are Liverpool fans, at Anfield, who decided that three losses were enough to start booing - that, for a title-winning team.

Yeah, it's curious. You have teams like Brentford and Bournemouth that seems to have fans that are just happy to be in the PL in the first place. Then you have Wrexham who have had three straight promotions on the trot, and even there the owners and the coach are being booed - haha, the world is a strange place and difficult to understand.

Overall pattern of play was decent but when we play it to Odobert or Tell it just goes absolutely nowhere. Xavi is missing players to play off with 1-2's and decent runs. Villa funnelled us in a way where we needed crosses into the box. To whom? Tel cant do that that job so they played to our weakness. Richarlison would have been a better bet in that position.

Its just not clicking up there, there is very little fluidity or even good ball rentention. I hope Solanke is back for the next game and we put Muani out wide.

I don't think booing is a big deal if it's at the end of the game to be honest (not that I ever have or would). Players are used to that sort of thing, and it's just an expression of dissatisfaction of the performance.

But booing/getting on individual players' backs during a game is detrimental to the player and team and very much a different matter...

Result like this has been coming. We've scrapped some results from close games and it was always going to happen the other way too. Thought we were somewhat better than them overall. But again very reliant on set pieces and turnovers to create chances.

I get starting Palhinha and Bentancur in a game like this. But keeping that duo in the second half at 1-1 way into the half is to me too passive and lacks ambition.

We probably would have been better with Romero and Udogie, we have other important players injured too. But Frank has options.

Think the criticism of the front players gets overstated as a significant part in them struggling is a result of what we do deeper.

We still badly miss a focal point in attack, and to move the ball up the pitch quicker.

It slow from the back. There was times Bentancur and I think VDV were shouting at Vicario to just play the ball. Get it out wide into space. But we waited, giving them time to pick up our players.

Apart from Kudus, we have no out ball. Having players like Solanke and Kulusevski back will give us that strength up top, and more players who can hold up a ball. Then we can bring in more players into the attack.

I think Xavi will do well when we can get him into space.

But we definitely didn't deserve to lose today.

Booing should be reserved for wanting a manager out (if its got to a very bad place), or if the team are obviously not putting a shift in. Booing a loss is just entitlement.

I don’t agree it’s a class thing. Think it’s just an overall societal problem.

I think out of all the games to start Palinha and Bentancur together (other than against City and Liverpool) it was this one. Villa play with a narrow 4 in midfield and like to attack through the middle, so I think their selection made sense.

Ultimately though I think we can’t be too upset with this result. Their second goal was incredible. 3 unbelievable actions in a row. I don’t hate losing to something like this. I just wish we took our chances better.

Still trying to work out whether it’s an us under Frank thing or whether the league is just like this now, but we’re very reliant on direct play. We have to get the luck of the bounce and we simply have to take our chances when they fall our way. I know this is considered smart percentage football but it feels to me a bit like ceding control, making games like this a coin flip and so these sorts of results can happen.

Didn’t think we played that badly, but we certainly didn’t play well. I felt comfortable at 1-0 but the problem was that a goal out of nothing and we’re back to attacking with poor buildup play and relying on set pieces.

Treat people as nothing but revenue streams and the result is that they will treat what they're paying for as a product and as such expect a certain level of satisfaction.

Only way to reverse that is to make people feel valued as more then a replaceable figure on a balance sheet.

Closing down was poor for both goals tbh. Good strikes but might no have been so good with a bit of pressure
Agreed, you would think our closing down would be good with Palhinha and Bentancur in DM.

I've noticed VdV likes to turn sideways, put his hands behind his back, bend forwards and stick his back leg out like a badger. Meanwhile the attacker shifts it and bends it round him. Personally I don't see why VdV tries to do that move, it is very passive and the attacker just uses him as a guide; for me VdV should be rushing out and staying 'head on' rather than doing this dance.

We did have a couple of good chances that we muffed or air shot, it could have gone our way and then people would be praising us.

My biggest gripe, as always, is the late and slow subs. When the team are clearly blowing out of their arses because they've just flown around the world and played 2 tough matches for their countries, bring on the fresh legs. We have a deep squad, let's use that depth for more than a few minutes.

Also, if you think of our strongest recent attack with Son Kane Deki Madders and then swap in Solanke and Johnson last year... and then remove all 6 of those players... that is the forward line we are left with now.
