We got the job done and played some nice football doing it. Last season we would have struggled mightily and stumbled to a 1 goal advantage in the tie to make it through.

@milo Gil, GLC, and Cuti mom for me. Bergwijn looked really good too and a shame he didn't get on the scoresheet.

And I'm still trying to figure out what Winks actually contributes, other than to just make up the numbers.

Not being funny but if you watched the game tonight you could clearly see he had a very good game.
Made some good tackles and helped set up the first goal IIRC and ran his heart out closing down the opposition. Passing was crisp and done with purpose, give the lad a break.

Late report (just came back from the game, fudging tube)

- Probably closest to a real setup for us (i.e. playing with a striker)
- This team is aggressive, we were tight, closed spaces, won balls back, good tempo
- Kane clearly makes a difference
- Gil has a much higher ceiling and probably can play for us earlier than most expected, probably might be the first swap deal both clubs end up feeling happy with.
- Winks (cannot believe I'm saying it) played well, closed down, was aggressive
- Lo Celso grew into game, had a major part in two of the goals
- Bergwijn & Son both looked the part coming, both should have scored
- Doherty .. sigh .. this guy isn't good enough

Level of opposition noted, but professional performance, no lack of motivation, right tempo, right aggression, another night it would have been 6-0.

I'd also it's the first game I've seen in a very long time where we were on top for all 90 mins, there was no (typical) 10-15 minutes where the opposition had control.

Just got in (t' Yorkshire). Impressed with Gil & Romero (As Eriktheviking says Gil's a potential Modric MkII). Hats off to Nuno he's making some silk purses out of sows' ears here (Winks/Dier). Real energy and feelgood factor about the team (and they feel like a "team"). Long may it continue. Bring on Watford!

Probably a bit of both. It would have caused more speculation if he wasn't captain. Maybe it also draws a line under things from Nuno's perspective.

It was a good watch, the opposistion were not the best but i thought we controlled the game from start to finish. Overall lots of good things and i thought all the players did well. Gil is going to be a star.

This to me was huge ..

So often over the last few years, even against dross opposition, we would give the opposing team a 15 minutes where they were in the game, where they had a chance to put us under pressure. Last night, they got nothing, we kept control for the full 90.
