*** OMT Spurs v Aston Villa ***

Mason does deserve blame, it was his fault, he may have an excuse but also makes the calls for him starting laughable, he needs easing back.

Agree with lamela. How people slag him off I have no idea, works harder than anyone else on the pitch, creates, skills full, great quick passing. I think people are still living off his worst of games for us

If you want to apportion blame without context so be it. The lad is coming back from injury. Just spoke to my mate who went and he said the crowd were silly, moaning because we were coasting, getting antsy at 2-0 when with 3 big games this week, conserving was smart. He said he thought that was a factor in the 15 min spell where Vanilla pushed us. I agree with him. Anyway, let's be happy to agree on Lamela. This was a massive coming of age for him, he became a 'senior pro' tonight IMO.

I love Poch's thinking towards the end: 'hmmm...we are losing Control of the game. I think I'll put on an 18 year old boy'

It was either that or Townsend...

Lamela was really poor in the first half. Him and Rose were by far our worst players in the first half. We lost midfield control and hold up play when Mousa went off. Lamela redeemed himself somewhat with a good last 15 minutes but for 75 minutes before that he was non existent and looked to be suffering from no confidence with his crazed eyes of last season. However, he never gave up and helped settle us down towards the end, especially his set up for Kane, which was classy.

Disagree with pretty much everything there bar the last bit and the Dembele comments! Where has our love gone Pirate? ;)

I had to remind myself what a young side they are and that we need to make a few allowances, with the panic stations that ensued after they let Villa back into it. I called it before half-time as well, which only made it all the more annoying, somehow. You could see the complacency in the sloppy passing and the lack of drive to get the ball forward, trying to play in 2nd or 3rd gear. Then surprise, surprise, we give away a soft goal, Villa get their tails up, and we could easily have ended up chucking away 2 points. Hopefully the players will start to learn these lessons.

In range of the top four...if we win...

Bottle time game..... alert! alert! alert!

put your house on Villa at Betfred... ..lol...

or This is where we change the psychology .after fifty odd years...
yes, this is the game...I can feel it.

Charge of the light phalanx, ear we come.....

So this is where I come in! I have been out all night and will
pick up the game from the start.Don't know the result,
I can't help thinking we will blow this game as well or maybe a draw is about the best we will manage...you just know that we always end up like this when it really matters to us!
Let's see if I am right...I'll be with the board in half hour or so live time..lol...

I thought Dier should have took charge of the ball in the Dier Mason rooster up for the goal

Dier also was guilty a few minutes later in leaving it for walker when agin he Should have took charge

What I loved was the way Dier still kept on going about his job and was very vocal on the Pitch

The problem today was thag it was too easy. They had no one attacking us and barely got in our half. When I saw te stats about action areas it looked odd as a lot of ball was in our half. What it didn't say was that the ball was with our players passing it around

That was the worse villa side I've seen in my 39 years

o_O

Don't take this the wrong way, but i had you as much older than that!! Shows how random this InterWeb is. Apologies!

Had to laugh when the Norwegian commentator noted "it's a great atmosphere here at White Hart Lane" during the first half. :D What's wrong with Monday night? Damn, apart from the kick his fudging head in spell in the second half, basically no singing all night. Dead.

Oh, well. We were decent on the pitch. In control for 90% of the game. Got a bit shaky, and then Kane just silences his critics again with that sublime finish! Perfect. What a good team goal that was, excellent. Not much to complain about, really. Conserving some much needed energy for the matches to come. Good win!

Oh, and shout outs to Mike Dean! Fantastic celebration on Moussa's goal!

When was rose poor? He played well most of the game bar a few moments and was excellent second half, hence the standing ovation......

LamelA wasn't great but he now looks like a good player having a bad half than a horror show.

Alli man of the match. Ridiculous. I love the kid, but he didn't have a great game bar the goal. Lamela or Dembele by far.
Can't believe alli got it? Wow.

Dembele and dier were very good tonight for the most and toby and jan were solid too. Walker and rose did well and as a base that will get us a fair few points I reckon

The English young player hype-machine in full-effect....good job he's managed by ;och who apparently said on Sky that Alli "has to keep his feet on the grass"

I thought Alli was at the fulcrum of everything good we did hence why he got MOTM

I think Demebele was controlling the game when he was on and I thought Dier was playing his usual bossing self...

Hard one to call as no one really shine in what was a very tame game in which we hardly got out of first gear

Grimsby having a go at Mason, now there's a surprise. Our manager shows faith in him, does it never occur to you to wonder why?

So I have just got back from the game, and I am so annoyed with a large contingent of our so-called fans. I would say supporters, but they did nothing of the kind. Talk about getting on the teams backs and there is no doubt in my mind that this precipitated the nervy moments. Honestly, even before the Villa goal went in, some people were almost rooting for it! Anyway, enough of that rant.

The performance today was average. We won, but should have kept a clean sheet. No real stand out performances for me, but I would say Alli, Lamela, Dembele and Toby were our best players. We just seemed to switch off like Villa did the first 70 odd minutes, and some of our players were making some uncharacteristic (this season at least) mistakes such as Dier, Rose, Mason and Vertongen. This is one of those games that our players will learn from, and thankfully we did not lose. For the first time, Lamela seemed to be like an experienced head at the end, so he deserves credit for that despite nothing really working for him in the first half.

The bit that did not make sense for me was playing Alli further forward when Mason came on. Alli was having a good game and I thought Mason would play in the position he played in against Sunderland. Mason was a bit rusty but the Villa players were going in very hard on him.

We won, but gave away our clean sheet and had an unnecessarily nervy end (until the third goal). Still not many points behind the leaders. Onwards and upwards this week.
