It's not the video ref that is the problem. The handball rule was changed so that any ball on the arm or hands when the arms are out is a handball. The decision was right, given the rules but the rule is ridiculous.

The ref on the pitch didn't give a penalty in real-time.

So he should jump with his hands behind his back?

Can you imagine doing that vs Carroll. You lose the ball and your jaw.

That’s the first big problem with the rule. Defenders now at a disadvantage as they have to jump like penguins.

2nd problem is they now keep stopping the flow of them game to check these incidents. Complete waste of time.

Aim for above the elbow really hard to get out of the way. Just play for that all game... bound to get at least one.

Soon teams will actually do this.

If big fat sam was still a manager his teams would. Imagine when one finally goes against united then maybe they will change rule.

Football is not the game it was when I was younger.

the handball rule used to be perfect

but people couldn't let it be, this is the result of people complaining about accidental ball to hand for years

Actually the problems have started because VAR and handball don’t mix, as it was still subjective. So they tried to come up with an all defining measure - (any hand ball where arm is away from body) to accommodate VAR.
