He’s also creating the siege mentality. “We keep them away from our box because the Tottenham box is special” and “I know the difference now between a club with lots of trophies and clubs that don’t have lots of trophies”.

If he'd seen it, he would've.

If the handball rule was what it was a couple of years ago, it's not given, VAR or no VAR.

There is so much wrong with the way video refs have been implemented in the PL.

1. Offsides. The cameras don't take enough frames to use VAR conclusively for offside. The ball is a blur when it's deemed to have left the boot. So go with the on-the-pitch refs decision if in doubt. In this game that's no pen.

2. Dier had a little push in the back, which probably pushed his arm outwards. Does the video ref go into such granular details? No. If in doubt go with the refs verdict on the pitch. No pen.

3. Point blank hand-balls shouldn't be a pen. Yes the rules have it wrong, but take the Southampton game. Ball cannons off winks heal hits the defender's arm - pen given. The rules say that such instances shouldn't be a pen.

What happened to "clear and obvious"? The idea was simple, anything that is obviously a mistake, help the ref out and flag it up. That was the intention of VAR, not this shambles.

Aim for above the elbow really hard to get out of the way. Just play for that all game... bound to get at least one.

Mane was the first one to try it, in the CL final. We've been seeing it creep in since then, but this rule is just an absolute disgrace, the refs are a f*cking joke...and I'm tuning out of the game, tbh. Just kicking it at hands in the box is guaranteed to give you a goal at this point, and it's cost us so, so many times. People will stop watching this crap the more it goes on, and maybe that will wake the Premier League, the refs, IFAB and FIFA up to just how thoroughly incompetent and outright maliciously macaronic they are.
