OMT Mighty Spurs vs Hungry Wolves

Exactly.
Zero chance Frank plays the “2nd string” in a league game, rotate a few maybe, but wholesale changes, no chance!
That's essentially what I want to see most games. Rotate a few, rotate a few others etc. Give more or less everyone the occasion breather (one start in a week). But also depending on the opposition, which players in the squad would be more suitable vs. Wolves and Bodø for example.

We have the squad to do it.

Then for bigger games more full strength, throw rotation out the window. Just whatever 11 is seen as the best for that game.

Horses for courses.

I don't think we have a second string so much now. There's not much drop off at any position if we rotate. Maybe at LB. Maybe Kudus to Johnson at RW. But the other positions, not so much.

I just think we need to be proactive limiting minutes now, so we don't start Ange-ing things up again as the fixtures continue to pile up.

We’ve historically struggled against Wolves. I can’t remember the last time we took 4 points off them in a season let alone 6. Doesn’t seem to matter how good or bad they/we are. They always play well against us. Have we ever done the double over them? Even if we win I’d bet it will be a hard fought 1-0.

Proactive yes, definitely agree. But we can start VdV, Kudus, Richarlison and still be proactive, and none of them started against Doncaster.

It’s not necessarily about abilities and more about cohesion, if you’re changing in 9 players from the last league game there’s going to be a drop off.

You limit minutes of 2 or 3 players on a rotation basis, not 80% of the team, Fergie was a master at it. Our managers (until now hopefully) have been really poor at it also going down the route you are suggesting.

I think the devil is in the detail of every player's individual plan to be fair. Nobody is suggesting switching 9 players. It's more about which players need to be protected from the red zone. That could be as simple as coming off after 65 mins and starting the next one. It could be as much as not travelling with the UEFA squad for an away game and getting a complete break.

Guys like Fergie and Pep used rotation a lot but it was always minimal from game to game. Every player had their turn to be recharged though.

So far so good with Frank. I'm guessing he will address Saudi Sportswashing Machine away very differently from Donny at home though. Much less rotation and it will look like a stronger eleven and bench.

GB was literally suggesting changing 9 players, hence the replies.

Whilst not related to the game as such, posting this here as it's being launched tomorrow, and will get more visibility here than in the Mental Health thread (I'll post it there as well).

But Arctic Circle on Tuesday, which is a pretty intense situation in terms of recovery and preparation (no time, long flight and transfers).

And two players there who need wrapping in cotton wall till they demonstrate our new conditioning regime has made them more robust.

If the plan is to start them against Bodø and Leeds, sure, maybe that's too much. That's how I'd like it to be planned at least, limit the number of players starting three, four then five in quick succession. Particularly those with bad injury records. And for Frank to be planning ahead, most players getting a game off here and there if possible.

Don't think we need those players to start consecutive games on the bench.

Big game and very long trip straight afterwards, so id rotate/keep a lot of the Doncaster team:

---‐------------------Kinsky
Spence---Romero---Danso---Udogie
--‐------------Gray--------Bergvall
---Johnson-----Sarr------Odobert
------------------------Tel
i think frank might want more steel and experience in the midfield. Bentancur high probability for Sarr who tweaked something. And maybe Vicario just to be sure.

Starting with counter attacking and that front four looks like a plan to me.

its about 10'C there now so not too cold ? i believe frank won't won't risk injuries to the fragile ones on that infamous plastic pitch.

Id go stronger against Leeds than Wolves i think. Leeds have got no goal threat, but are pretty solid, whereas Wolves look like this season's whipping boys (till they tempt Nuno back)
