OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

We spent £40m on Gallagher so IF Poch is the right man then £21m is a bargain. Might as well start spending money with a strategy at some point
It’s not going to happen. The US won’t allow it, we won’t pay the money and why would Poch come anyway?

Yeah he loves the club but he’s a man who needs time to get going. Would he want to risk being the man who takes us down?

Never spend proper money on a proper player. Replaced Kane and Son with mediocre mid-price players, to add to a heady mix of loan signings and speculative punts on youngsters.
Kane and Son masked the wage structure issue for years. Now it’s playing out accordingly.

There’s a proven direct link between wages as a % of turnover and points gained. At our level, to be in the top 6 you need everything in good order - fit squad, good manager, fair decisions. We have none of this and are therefore getting the minimum from what we have.

I`ve said it for years our recruitment has been woeful. We have got to stop spending big money on bang average journeymen. We have like the 4th highest net spend but when was the last time we spent our money on players we wanted as first choice. Lets face it Simons was 3rd choice Galagher was only bought because of the injury to Bentancur. Solanke has had 1 season when he scored lots at Bournemouth but is a bang average player. The list is endless over the last few seasons.
Paratici presided over our fall. A succession of poor managerial appointments and bang average recruitment. Standards sliding left right and centre.

Yeah its fair to say we coasted to 4th/5th on guaranteed 40-50 goals for a good few seasons with not much else. Chickens come home to roost.

A big problem with hiring Tudor is he has no positive footing with the refs/media. Everyone will join in the pile on and no one will pull for him. Decisions/narrative against us become 2nd nature as there will be no heat for those involved.

An extreme example of this would be hiring someone like Klopp. You immediately get about 80% of decisions in your favour and the media up his @rse.

The correlation would be to wage bill rather than percentage of turnover.

We have the 6th highest wage budget in the league i believe - that will be a big reason as to why we can't challenge at the the very top but it's not an excuse for where we have found ourselves the past 2 and bit years. Our problem has been primarily poor player acquisition and squad building

None mate if I’m honest. Thought Fulham could have had 4 before we scored and looked more likely to get a third than we looked likely to equalise. It was poor as was last week.

He’s not even had two weeks though. And he’s had two tough games. He loses on Thursday and I think this becomes a very real conversation but I’d give him Palace.
I get that mate. My problem is that those 2 weeks gave him a clear opportunity to at least bring some organisation into the team. He will not have that luxury again. So I am worried what will change? There was nothing to hang your hat on today. Fulham completely out played us. Add to that he has no experience in the PL, no knowledge of the teams we are to face. I think we need to make the call sooner rather than later.

I know 3 at the back is his style but we don't have the players for it with the injuries, surely would make sense to keep 4 at the back and tinker with what's left. 4-3-3 would suit us a lot better, clog the midfield and see what Tel, Richie and Solanke can work up for example.

Prospects x Back ups FC

Who was the last player we bought than the players we currently had in that position?

Lloris?

Sissoko > Wijnaldum

Lo Celso > Fernandes

Vicario > Raya

Tel & Odobert > Semenyo

Perhaps Pochettino, Postecoglou, Mourinho and Conte were justified to be frustrated with ENIC…
