It’s going to be a hard watch and perhaps there are not going to be many rewards for doing so.

Even successful missions when they come will bring about massive death and destruction.

The characters are already changed, what will they be like after a few weeks of this let alone months or even years.

I haven’t started watching yet, but I’m reading the book. Unbelievable what these guys went through. Fear, freezing conditions, enemy fighters, flak, fire, getting trapped in gun turrets, inexperienced pilots crashing on takeoff and landing, horrendous.

Yeah that sounds like a worthwhile trip, I was looking at this trip that took you through different areas linked with the battle of the bugle including a museum dedicated to Easy company. Haven't got round to it yet but it seems an interesting way to mix it up holiday wise..I still have the book by Stephen Ambrose that I haven't yet read cone to think of it, probably be easier now having an idea of the events and faces to the names from the TV series..

Looks like waiting it out for all the episodes masters of the air makes sense so I can binge it on the trial.

Masters of air doesn’t have the impact of the others so far but it’s still a high quality production for sure

Elvis as a plane captain is interesting. Apparently he has changed his voice but for me he still sounds like elvis

Apparently had to undergo a LOT of dialect training to get out of the Elvis accent, didn't know he was sooooo method.
 
About half way through Mr & Mrs Smith on Prime - been pretty good

Loosely based on the Brangelina film with the same name about a husband & wife spy duo - starring Donald Glover

Finished it, very good - wirth checking out.


James Clavells Shogun has been made in to an epic looking series, being released on/by FX end of the month - i don't tend to rate FX releases all that highly so hopefully this bucks the trend
 
Finished Boy Swallows Universe on Netflix during the week. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Lost a bit of its charm in the later episodes I thought but would still very much recommend it.
Unlike Fall of the House of Usher watched before the above (and still have to watch the final episode, if I can be bothered.). What a load of tosh that was.

Will look out for shogun, novel was brilliant.
Mini series with Richard chamberlain wasn't terrible, but wasn't great either.

Just seen it's actually being released on Disney+ over here, Star Wars & Marvel shows are pretty hit & miss so not sure what to expect.

The original series was before my time and looks very dated so have never bothered with it - book is obviously a corker

It was very one paced, stuck pretty close to the book though.
Watched an 80s Australian production of a town like Alice a couple of weeks ago.
Like a lot of these adaptations it lacks something, an intimacy and depth the book has.
Been hovering over buying Herman wouks war remberance series for a while, loved the books but for some reason I can't quite bring myself to buy the mini series.
