Just watched Anora up local multiplex, from the same director as The Florida Project so highly recommended for those of you who enjoyed that gem of a movie.

Watched Manchester By The Sea tonight, first time ever......some powerful film.

Oh man. That is one that just jumps up and grabs you by the feels and haunts you forever.

I remember watching that without a clue in the middle of the afternoon and I was properly bawling. I was glad I was watching it alone because I was a mess.

Watching Airplane! On ch4 now. Its only 15 mins in and they have already cut about 2 mins of the film. Even with a warning at the beginning that this is an old film and some of the humour may not be acceptable today. I have a theory its worth buying old DVDs In charity shops because in 20 years they will be priceless…..well not priceless….but well sought after as folks will want to see the classics uncut and original.

Star Wars is the perfect example of this. You cant get an original version anymore. If you have one, even on vhs its worth keeping hold of.

I remember it being described as the best film I never want to watch again which resonated with me somewhat!

It's maybe not quite as impactful but I have similar feelings with Blue Valentine, easy to think it's going to be light hearted rom com with Ryan Gosling when it's far from it. Both good films for appreciating that we won't always know the full story when we see behaviour we don't understand. Instinctively as humans we tend to make judgements quickly without having the full picture.

Anyways, enough of these bloody chick flicks referring to "feelings", did anyone see the latest Jason Statham / Vin Diesel / the Rock / Jean Claude Van Damme film? An absolute outrage that it wasn't nominated for an oscar, an outrage I tell you.

Yeah whilst being a bit of a snob on occasion I'm not against the old "switch off your brain and enjoy" film, I guess it depends what mood you're in and what you're after. Sometimes you might want a winding narrative working on multiple levels challenging your perspective on the world, other times you might want to see Keanu Reeves brutally dispatch 600 extras because dog.

I watched the Green Knight not so long ago, absolutely not what I was expecting, definitely a thinker and it was beautiful in terms of visuals, not a bog standard fantasy film. Definitely worth a rewatch.
