Sing Sing

Set in Sing Sing maximum security prison over in The States, it follows the RTA (rehabilitation through arts) program there as a group of inmates (mostly playing themselves) work towards putting on a play - up for my film of the year

Conclave, and Juror#2, were both a decent watch.
Loved Longlegs, great film and classic Nic Cage - think he might be my favourite actor at the moment.

Conclave was an entertaining thriller, despite the slightly predictable ending.

I enjoyed Nic Cage’s performances in Unbearable Weight, Dream Scenario and Renfield but I didn’t think much of Longlegs; maybe it’ll improve with a rewatch at home.

Just watched Cillian Murphy’s latest up cinema which was a thought provoking drama about the Magdalene Laundries.

I have seen Robert Eggars Nosferatu, and can safely say it was excellent. Entertaining, dramatic, brilliantly filmed, and the perfect blend of Nosferatu and Dracula stories. Very impressive. I like him a lot as a filmmaker, was afraid he might fudge this up, but not at all, he has produced a memorable gothic horror masterpiece.

Been alot released in the news and documentaries about it recently, makes sense now. What a scandal

It was like a Charles dingdongens novel, amazing that such cruelty could still be perpetrated on such a scale only a couple of decades ago.

Great performances by Cillian Murphy and Emily Watson plus it’s nice to have a movie which was all wrapped up in under 100 minutes.

Rare length of film these days

I stumbled on this today where famous actors and directors pick their best films, absolute gems of videos for real film nuts

They are really good for restoring and then releasing movies on Blu-ray (so I hear)

Can't be arsed going back to look but was there any chat about the Kneecap movie in here? Just after watching it and thought it was great - felt like one of those movies that really captures the point in time it's going for (though tbf I have no idea how accurate a view of their subculture it is) like Trainspotting or Human Traffic

I loved it. Really great, witty and gritty. Agreed, it had a vibe similarity with Trainspotting, and I think it’s pretty bang-on with regards to their culture/life.

Really good pod on it by Edith bowman interviewing the guys
They said train-spotting was a reference
Have to say I watched it on the train to London on Thursday and the line “I’m gonna blow you like a Brighton hotel” made be spit my coffee out
The bloke diagonally across from me asked what I was watching and it’s not an easy film to describe to do it justice

Watched Stagecosch yesterday, was my favourite western when I was a kid, full of stereotypes with actors giving their same character as usual. Great to watch a film with no message, nobody swore or got their tits out.
