I think IMDB is sometimes wrong, maybe I want to appreciate a film for different merits than those who have rated the film. Alternatively maybe, like some tv shows, it has such a fanboys base that the rating will be skewed against all realistic reflection of the film. An example of this would be Return of the Jedi, a film which scored a rating of 8.4, the same score that the following films achieved; Unforgiven, Once Upon a Time in America, The Sting and Aliens scored.

Those four films are classic films, and yet, I don't think Return of the Jedi compares and was simply voted so highly because of the Star Wars fanbase. I could be wrong and so people can challenge this. I don't doubt that there are good scenes in the movie but really overall it's not a fantastic movie, is it?

It was great for its time.

I watched it again last week, and it hasn't aged well. Personally I always preferred Empire Strikes Back

But I can understand the high score, as there were a huge number of kids that loved that film, and who are now the biggest internet users

I agree with El G - there are times IMDB and Rotten are wrong and lets be honest its ultimately the viewer that decides. I always view those two websites before downloading or watching those movies but ultimately I end up disregarding their views and deciding for myself.


We need to do an IMDB for porn or Rottentomatoes for porn. Gap in the market place.
 
There were plenty of subplots in TDK, most notably Two Face, but it sort of reinforces my point that you didn't mention it, coz it was a bit meh.

I actually thought that was a really good film... then the ending occurred. Ruined it, they had a really good hook going
 
Definitely worth a watch Arcy, thought Shia Lebouf was surprisingly really good in it.

Watching the Master on Wednesday, at 143 minutes, looking forward to it but might have to mentally prepare myself for it a bit
 
We'll be paying our usual trip to Lee Valley Odeon while we're down for the game at the weekend, but right now the choices are looking a little bleak right now.

I know what the wife will want to see (Twilight), [-X Looks like its Gambit unless something new starts on friday
 
Just orederd a new 2TB external drive for my TV as I have filled my current one with movies and TV shows. I freaking love the internet!

Oh and have to say I enjoyed

Watched "7 Psychopaths" last night.

8/10

Christopher Walken is (start impersonation) well...you know...fabulous! (end impersonation). Good storyline that doesn't go where you expect. Think "Smoking Aces" meets "In Bruges". Sam Rockwell is very good too.

Is Smoking Aces good? I've had it on DVD for ages but never seen it.
