How about a Moyes with a massive point to prove? A chance to redeem himself - prove to the premier league that he can manage at this level and challenge for the champions league.

no thanks....AVB also had tonnes to prove, but he just bored me to tears..Weve got the players to play attractive football, now we need the right manager to put a plan together and allow them to express themselves. Moyes aint that man

How did that work with AVB

We simply cannot appoint any wounded animals.

Moyes should take some time out....not that I ever thought id say this but agree with the fatness of Sam!

would never abandon my support for the club but if we appointed Moyes id be devastated! inconsolable...suicidal...oh please dont let it happen.

By which time we will be weeks behind all our rivals in terms of transfer targets....not good at all.

Man utd will be after our types of target....depending on what you believe if they get a manager sorted fairly quickly they will invest some 150-200m on new players taking into account player sales...Man utd cant afford to be out of the top 4 come the end of next season...

Im just worried that if we dont get a coach sorted by July we are going to be struggling again!!!! bear in mind that when Moyes & Woodward started at Utd Jul 1st City had already spent on Fernandinho/Navas....they were well down the road with transfer targets and utd's transfer window was shocking!

I am positive dude I just want for Levy to get things spot on for next season! Im worried that we are dilly dallying f**king about and its gonna hamper our chances next season!

:) they are currently negotiating with Cavani, Carvalho at sporting, Kroos, Shaw.....i dont think we are in the same market unfortunately

I genuinely don't think Moyes has the ability to take anyone to the next level. Arguably Everton's best season in the last decade of the Premier League is this year, when they lost a key first team player in Fellani. Martinez had a similar budget that Moyes always did, made astute signings (granted a few on loan, but you cut your cloth to suit your needs) and managed to get them playing attractive football. Moyes can steady a ship but can't take it forward. A team like Villa would be a good suit for him.

Cavani will not move to Utd!

they will want quality players who will accept a decent wedge which entails they will not be playing UCL footie next season....what sort of players do you think we will be after?

and none of the english talentless battlers with timbo in charge!:)

we will be after players who will accept being paid more than half what they would get at a club like Utd;)

How many years out of the CL would it take to seriously affect Uniteds squad and the ability to pay wages, attract top signings etc.?

I mean if they got a big name manager some might still be lured there assuming the team would get straight back in the CL and be competitive but lets say they didnt and finished 5 or 6th next year, maybe sacked another manager. How many years would it take for a giant like Man United to drop out of the elite tier of clubs?

i think they are just too big to drop out of the elite tier. Their turnover is gigantic, they have a worldwide fanbase, the biggest issue for them is the debt and the associated repayments, but i think Utd wil always be a money making machine and whilst that is so they will be contenders.

Utd can ride it out this year......either way if they finish 5th next season then the team in 4th has a 50m leg up on them to invest back into player recruitment & wages!

missing out on top 4 would be a disaster for utd next season! funny thing is 5 into 4 wont go City,Chelsea,Le ****,Pool someone big is gonna take the hit! wouldnt it be amazing if two of those missed out on such revenue? what if the Spurs could get their next season through savvy planning, savvy transfers in and out and a savvy coach at the helm getting things tactically right 85% + most of the time...

oh wait we dont even know whats going on with the head coach situation great....

expect a huge transfer window with Utd leading the way.....not a window for Levy's late deals.....or last days supermarket sweep!

I think the one thing that might give United pause about van Gaal is the fact he will very likely clash with Ferguson. Having said that, I don't think they will be prepared to take the risk of Spurs getting him, which is their clear alternative.

Carlo Ancelotti overrated? Really?

I shouldn't really dignify that with a response but to say someone like that is overrated just shows a basic lack of common sense, never mind football intelligence. He won the double in his first season in England with a decent, not outstanding side and got them playing better football than they had done under Mourinho, Scolari and Grant and certainly better than under Villas-Boas/Di Matteo.

He has won the league in 3 different countries, won the Champions League twice and reached another final. He has been employed to manage 5 of the biggest teams in the world over the past 15 years. If that is overrated then I would love a bit of that for Spurs, however unlikely that maybe.

He has class, charisma and is widely respected by the footballing world, Plays football the right way, He conducts himself in the right way, never gets embroiled in controversy and is very good advert for whoever he is employed by.

Without a doubt, if we could choose anyone then he would be my undoubted number 1 choice.

And on top of all that, watching his eyebrow dance in an interview is endlessly funny

That raised eyebrow look is classic.

I was gutted when PSG decided to go for him in Feb 2012. Had they held off for a couple of months then it would have been apparent to Levy that a readymade replacement was ready for Redknapp, especially as he was constantly being interviewed about wanting to stay in London. Such a shame that it took those extra couple of months for Levy to realise that Redknapp had to go.
