No permanent U16 manager. No permanent U18 manager. No permanent women’s team manager. No permanent men’s team manager. Director of Football on leave of absence as a result of ongoing investigation into potentially criminal activity. Fourth permanent manager in under four years recently departed having blasted the state of the club to assembled media…

I’d be interested to know your threshold for a describing a shambles.

What's happened to stuart lewis and yaya toure?

I think de Zerbi would be wary of making a move away from Brighton too soon. Slot on the other hand would more than likely take the opportunity to get into the premier league. But not until the end of the season. It it goes south for Stellini very quickly, and I think there’s a very strong possibility of that, then I can see us moving for someone who’s available immediately.
If the club is doing its proper due diligence, has identified the right manager and that manager is not available until summer, I would hope that the performances through the end of the season would not change who we will bring in. Worst case dig up someone like a Hiddink to see us through the end of the season. But if it's a knee jerk appointment to salvage this season, then the club hasn't learned.

I think the difference between us and Chelsea re appointing now versus in the summer, is that we have something to lose, whereas Chelsea don’t. So even though we are clearly a sinking ship, we are currently 4th in the race. Falling behind that then will look bad for anyone, even though we all know from within that it’s an impossible job to arrest our spiral of decline that quickly. Whereas Chelsea are safe from relegation, won’t get Europe, so the new guy has 9 dead rubber games to start implementing their system with no expectations whatsoever.

(not defending our actions or inactions) but Chelsea's rush is Boehly desperate to look like he actually has a clue about anything after spending £600M in players and £70M+ in managers to have the worst results in decades.

Yep. Don't think clearlake will be too happy. This will be their 3rd manager in a season.

Can't be bothered with this. We will hire Poch eventually. Not sure where that would leave Kane. Maybe playing out his last season with us under his old mentor.

I had a terrible nightmare last night! I dreamt that Poch took the Chelsea job!
Please, please please, someone reassure me that won't happen!

I dreamt last night that I met Juergen Klinsmann and asked him to sign a photo of him in the old purple kit. And then I dreamt about talking with Harry Kane and he was praising Rico Lewis saying that he’s the best youngster England have had for a long long time.
Dreams are weird but rarely reflect reality. Even if Lewis is likely to be a top player, I’m highly unlikely to be talking with Kane about him.

Or signing a 3 year extension and (finally) captaining us into Poch's second golden era. Totti had done 8 years at Roma before the silverware starting coming for him.

The more I read the more I like Slot, I assume he speaks good English as well (not sure if Gallardo does). I think his style and tactics would work quite well here and 433 or 4231 would work with our squad.

Who is one thing but Levy needs to get the when right. With so many vacancies going last might not look good for the club or feel good to the manager and players

That's a rational approach.

However what about the matter of his profile? I'm sure no one on here bar a few devotees had ever heard of him till 2-3 days ago. Isn't the public reaction going to be 'what, another Christian Gross'? Especially after we got burnt recently on Santo too, getting in someone who at a basic level just wasn't big enough for the club.

All have pluses and minuses, but I'd put him below Poch, Gallardo and De Zerbi because of that he has only done it with a small club in a small league element.

The caveat is that for Slot to work out with Spurs he will need to get rid of some players and surround himself with younger talent. This might also mean Kane leaving, but I am fine with that, if he can replicate what he has done with Feyenoord and did previously with AZ. And it's going to take at least a couple of years, even though he did get AZ and Feyenoord playing at a high level fairly quickly.
