Ndombele

Seriously. I know £66m is a lot of dough, but we can settle on £55m and add some easy-to-meet incentives that'll take the final price to £66m. It should be a no-brainer. Of course, for all we know, they may have already agreed and the only sticking point is how much now, how much later, and how much in the form of incentives. I really hope that's the case. I don't usually get disappointed by Levy's bargaining tactics, because we have been a 2nd tier team for the most part, and his tactics were appropriate given our status. But now there needs to be some reconsideration, given we are in the top tier.

EDIT: And I just saw the recent posts that we are close to a deal. That's what I'm talking about!

Do people (do we?) do 5 and a half year contracts that expire halfway through a season? Seems somewhat unbelievable to sign someone who could theoretically walk away in January (all be it 2025)...... smells a bit like too much detail to try and make it look more convincing.

I agree mate. As much as I want to latch onto these sort of stories, I reckon the guy tweeting is either on a wind up or taking a punt so to be "first" to break the deal.

To go with the weird contract length, I'd also say that figure might be a little under what Lyon want and that if it were that much I'd think he'd be on a higher wage. Unless those bonuses are bloody amazing, which going back to previous stories may be true (apparently whilst our basic is lower than most, but our pay bonuses are quite lucrative).

Alasdair Gold reports for Football London.
(It’s Dan Kilpatrick who is with the Standard).

Ah, that's right. Dan is with Espn now though. I think it's fair to assume that Alli Gold has a few connections inside the club, working so close to it. He doesn't usually say stuff like this, so seeing as he says it now, it's reasonable to assume he's got it from a decent source, in my opinion.

Transfer fee need not necessarily set the wage. Davinson cost £42m but signed a contract worth £65K/wk. I think the player's salary history has more to do with it. So £110K/wk sounds close to where I would expect it to be (I was thinking more £150K).

What I also don't understand about the tweet is that the deal will be announced when international duty is over. I thought they were done, no?

DiMarzio is pushing the angle that Juve executives are already in Lyon to chat with Aulas so this fits in with the drama.

I do however hope that that number is false. 45m euros is a derisory offer imo. Had it been pounds then I'd think we were close, but euros is really taking the tinkle. There are other rumours out there saying N'Dombele would rather play in the Premier League too which could tie in with the brick offer from us. It's like Grealish all over again.

He will sign in next few days for a fee of £62m*

*dont shoot the postman even if he does hand write all the mail himself. I just think this one is almost there
