I hope that, if (as I am confident) Moussa Sissoko ends up producing excellent displays and justifies the trust of the only person that matters - Poch - those who have been so quick to denigrate and diss the the player have the guts to come back and publicly swallow humble pie with a topping of bile.

Absolutely delighted at Levy for this. I can honestly say I've never once wished we had Sissoko until it became clear Poch wanted someone like him. And Levy had truly gone and backed the manager. He hasn't tried to save face. He hasn't not made the signing and yet held the manager to unfair standards. Poch proved his worth last season and Levy has backed him. Absolutely brilliant.
Poch said we needed someone with pace and power. We play with a narrow 3 behind the striker and overlapping fullbacks to press in the best possible way. Sissoko will do great in the inside right position. He will run all day long. He will break lines. He will quicken the pace when we start going too slow and playing square. Fantastic.
And we have George now if Sissoko doesn't play. We've got guile in Eriksen and Lamela. We've got unpredictability in Dele and Son, and we've got Sissoko and George for the pace, plus Edwards and Onamah highly rated.
Really happy with this window.

We do need more dribbling ability in the team, so that's a big plus.

I honestly think Levy has caved in here; perhaps Mitchell leaving IS a factor and he felt he had to be seen to back Poch after not paying similar fees for Batshuayi and Wijnaldum..

Saudi Sportswashing Machine probably owe us some money from townsend and yedlin so i suppose that might be part of the reason levy stumped up. The numbers doesen't look quite as bad when you look at it that way?
Not overly happy with the cost of the transfer if it goes through but pleased to have a decent and at times quality PL level player added to the squad. We needed another body in as our squad was looking desperately thin imo and although we have paid about a 1/3 over value for him that is the market of today.
Still think that we should have really gone in for a statement signing earlier in the window though if we have that money to spend. Don't see why we couldn't perhaps have gone in with a decent offer for the likes of Isco, Meyer, Coric, Mane etc.
Personally, I would have been very pleased with Mane and think he would have really fitted our system and style.
Would like to think that if availability is there that we might try and make a strong signing in the January window.

Makes absolutely 100% no difference at all.
If Toon were supposed to pay us £10m over the next two years and now instead we pay them £20m over the next 5 years we're still out £30m total for Sissoko in total. Had we spent £30m on a player from a different club we would have gotten that £10m for Saudi Sportswashing Machine...

Well, we weren't prepared to spend it on Batshuayi, and we weren't prepared to spend it on Wijnaldum. Evidently, we've chosen to spend it on Sissoko. If you trust Poch's judgement, then trust that this order of priorities is one he finds satisfactory, instead of searching for the 'different' player that *seems* more appealing. I freely admit that I'm not convinced by Sissoko, as I wasn't convinced with Zaha. But if Poch prioritises either (as he seems to have done with Sissoko), I expect them in. Also, take a look at my previous post in this thread, and tell me if you find the 'narrative' you referred to earlier in evidence.
IF this is true i can picture DubaiSpur crying, seething with anger as he puts his Levy vodoo doll and pins back into the drawer.

...in all seriousness, if this goes through, I'll be pretty happy. It's what I've always asked for - no more, no less. Give the manager what he wants - if later you wish to balance the books, do it once that's done (with the manager's understanding that it's necessary after getting whomever he wants), but that should never be a priority over giving the manager options if you're serious about trusting his vision and backing him, as we've been told we are with Poch. Good f*cking job, Daniel Levy, if this happens. I have severe doubts over Sissoko, but for once I don't have doubts that we *will* go in for a player Poch wants even if it seems contradictory to our overall approach.
*Provided* we sign him, of course.
