Moussa Dembele

Tottenham have won the race to sign Fulham striker Moussa Dembele, Football Insider sources understand.

The 19-year-old has been given permission by the Londoners to undergo a Spurs medical on Saturday after the two clubs agreed a deal.

Discussions have taken place between the London clubs in the last 48 hours about a deal in which Dembele could move to White Hart Lane in the January window.

A source close to the situation has told Football Insider that Dembele has chosen Tottenham despite strong interest in him this month from Manchester United, Monaco and Juventus.

The fee is expected to be around the £5million mark for a player who is out of contract at the end of the season.

All parties are confident that terms can be finalised before the transfer window shuts on Monday night.

Spurs’ move for Dembele means they are unlikely to pursue Saido Berahino in the final 48 hours of the window.

Gordon Bennett! is he having a medical or not and FFS if he is why would we loan him back when we need a striker...unless........

The story doesn't add up at all. Why would we pay money for him and loan him back when we can sign him on a pre contract now and get him for free in the summer? It makes absolutely no sence.

I don't want to see him loaned back. The whole point of signing him now was to make sure we had extra cover for Kane after Son and Chadli.

Ok so Get French French Football now saying that he did not have a medical this morning but is due to have in just over an hours time.

the question as to whether he goes back to Fulham or comes straight away is up in the air...reports say the player wants to join us immediatley.

Where did you see that?

"Been told that a medical has been completed today. Believe it's MD2. Was told by a different source that Fulham tried to involve Veljkovic, but they can't for various reasons."

Possibly a condition laid down by the selling club. And a sign of goodwill.

1) We'd have to pay compensation anyway

2) To beat off the competition

Remember we offered Burnley £10m for Ings, even though he was out of contract, for those two reasons.

heres some itk

The BBC running it now, the one agency you know has scruples about checking their sources

Moussa Dembele: Fulham striker set to move to Tottenham

Fulham striker Moussa Dembele is having a medical and is set to join Tottenham in a transfer worth a reported £5m.

Dembele's contract at Craven Cottage ends in the summer, although he will be sent back to the Championship club on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old Frenchman joined Fulham from Paris St-Germain in 2012 and has scored 11 goals this campaign.

Spurs already have unrelated 28-year-old Belgium midfielder Mousa Dembele in their squad.

Fulham, meanwhile, have signed defender Michael Madl, 27, on loan until the end of the season from Austrian side Sturm Graz.

The Whites, who are 19th in the Championship, only four points above the relegation zone, and have only won one of their last 15 matches, have an option to make the deal permanent.

Dembele, who has represented France at under-20 level, was only 17 when he made his Premier League debut in November 2013, although Fulham were relegated from the top flight in that season.

Tottenham are fourth in the Premier League, five points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United, and aiming to qualify for the European Cup for only the third time.
