Mousa Dembele

did he actually injure himself on international duty?

Lets hope not. Maybe Poch had a word, and pulled him. We need Dembele. @Yoof in the Bentleb thread, just watch the MOTD highlights of Dembele vs the scum to see that he is extremely effective. Yoof saying that he slows things in the middle. On the whole, Dembele opens things up, makes space for himself and then plays a pass to someone like Eriksen who should then be playing that quick ball into the Forward etc. Dembele doesn't slow things, he plays past the press and opens the game up for us.

I think we have a new sick note. ( before anyone says Anderton played a lot of games i agree and the sick note handle was unfair in his case).

It's a worry, maybe he needs to sit out some of the gruelling Poch training sessions, or at least go easy in them. Hope his powers don't quickly decline like they did with our other beast Sandro.

Agree, i posted elsewhere on here that Dembélé could become a problem for Poch. Because he is such a influence on us as a team when he is out we tend to miss him as we do not have anyone who can do what he does ( one of the reasons i believe Poch went for Sissoko). Now if he is going to be in and out of the side more then he has been in the past ( and he has always been prone to injurys and that may get worse as he gets older) then we/Poch may have to look at that and make a decision (1) do we carry on and accept that he will miss games and disrupt one of our strengths or (2) Does he decide to look for someone ( and again this may be the reason he went for Sissoko) to take over the role in the team.

Lovely vid. at his best he is a beast.

That's why people always say he should play further up the pitch.

He knows, and we can see, he is two footed, has unbelievable body strength and can walk past players as if they are not there.

So the last element must be in his head (ie bit of a nosebleed the nearer the goal he gets). As with that skillset you'd think he'd be able to walk it in.

He really SHOULD NOT play further up the pitch!! He was one of the best players in the league last year in CM so why on earth would we change his position? He's also shown that he doesn't score enough or get enough assists when playing further forwards.

Our keeper, back 4 and CM pairing of Dier and Dembele is as good as there is in the PL so the last thing which should be doing is changing it

Yeah I agree. Those people I talk of are not me!

Just hypothesising. The mental part I offer as the reason it won't/doesn't work ain't changing anytime soon, and as you say he's doing a grand job playing as one of the two in deeper midfield.

I think he just needs space to get the momentum going - once he starts on those unstoppable runs forward, he's impossible to stop, but he needs that space to take the first few touches and generate the forward power. He won't get that higher up.

he's a great plan B when our main strikeforce are impotent. i hope to see eriksen to stay deeper to spray medium to long balls and dembele, running the channels trying to get on them and carry the ball into the crowded penalty box himself.

Dembele will not help us attack wise playing teams who sit back

He works well in midfield battles where we may be outnumbered as he can do the job of two men with his dribbling, which gives us a spare man

Disagree he is usually the chap that creates space that will allow others to get an assist.

I think if you look at stats then yes you would be right but if you watch games he disrupts defences and shapes
