Mousa Dembele

To be perfectly honest if an elbow only gets a 3 man ban then a scratch to the face (there was no eye gouging) should only be 3.

Terry got 4 for racial abuse, I see no logic whatsoever in a physical act getting more

the only reason Suarez got so harshly dealt with for the bite was that it was the third time he had done it

if Demebele had previous of this then an increase would be understandable

I'm pretty sure Dembele got an elbow to the head from Costa in an earlier aerial challenge. Plus I bet there was plenty between the two that we didn't see. It's easy to say that, as professional player, you should just take it, but I've been on the receiving end of similar tactics and wound up a few centre halves over the years and when you are in the heat of a game, heavy tackles going in, sticking up for your teammates, it's hard not to get involved.

I don't remember Dembele doing anything similar during the season. I couldn't say the same about Costa. Hopefully Dembele's ban will be four games or fewer, and he will learn lesson. Whatever the result he has had an outstanding season for us; a revitalised player under Poch.

I think you appeal after a decision.

Last night's deadline was just for him to state his case. I suspect decision will be at a meeting today.

I think it's clear enough. He accepts the charge and a three match ban but will fight a longer ban. Possibly grounds to accept 4 as a compromise.

That said, I think more than twice what Torres got for his gouging of Vertonghen would be extremely unfair.

Didn't Torres get nothing? In which case a one match ban would be an infinite multiple of Torres'

I agree with that assertion but I think accepting a three match ban could stop the FA banning him for longer. What happens after this in similar situations will be interesting.

We can deal with him missing 4 games. We turn up nice and fresh in time for the Champion's League.

I'm more worried about the likes of Son, Eriksen and Lamela being selected to play in the Olympics for their countries and fudging up their vital pre seasons.
