Mousa Dembele

Mason was the better option at the time, because he moved the ball more quickly in a system that required people to move the ball quickly. Now Dembele is moving the ball more quickly but still has the added attributes that we all no he has. So Dembele is now the better option.

Mason did play ahead of Dembele most of last season didn't he? Seems strange to think that he wasn't the better option.

This season Dembele has stepped it up massively and corrected a lot of the faults people have been complaining about in the past. Credit to him and Pochettino for that. Doesn't mean that he should have been playing more back when he wasn't playing much.

Fitness levels are key to Dembele - play him when he's not tip top and it really shows as his performance declines markedly.
Some players can cope but I'm not sure Dembele is one of them. Not as bad as Sturridge though but along those lines IMHO.

I seem to recall discussion at the time suggesting partly the reason he was brick was because he was following negative AVB instructions (retain possession at all costs, stay back, hold position, stuff like that).
Partly that. Also that interview where Dembele said he grew up playing on the streets with no rules and no 'big' goals and you didn't know who was on your team (paraphrasing) so you tended to hold onto it, hold people off, try to beat everyone on the whole pitch, go on a surging run throwing bodies out of your way, you don't pass, and you don't shoot from distance either as the goal was just a post that you had to dribble up to and hit (or something like that)

Maybe, but he seems to be more direct this season then last and that was under Poch.

Do you mean fitness or injuries??

Good question - with some players they are one and the same. I think he has to be 90% or don't play him.

He is an excellent footballer BUT when 'slightly' below par 'fitness/injury' wise he can be a liability!
With Mousa it is very fine margins IMHO

Or some people just pick a player to pieces because they do not like them then have to back track when he comes good. You were wrong about Dembele just admit it.
I sat next to a suppoter on Sunday who spent the whole match slagging Eriksen then cheered her fat lungs out when he scored the winner. I had to point out to her the hypocrisy, I don't like sharing my football club with these kinds of spurs fans - they are not worthy! Guess I'm just doing the same thing here :)

How was I wrong? I guess Poch was wrong for not playing him too? I said he played badly...he did ....he got dropped. I have said he is playing well now...what's your problem? I have always said he has great skills. A bit of fanboydom happening here. I support the team, not individual players and I always call it as I see it, regardless of who the player is. I don't have any untouchable favourites. Un-like others. Guess what mate, football isn't some cult for me, I continue to use my faculties to make judgements and there is no place for blind mindless faith in my support. However, I would never be-grudge you and your attitudes and say I don't like your kind of support. I guess I'm more tolerant.

a small groin problem
I hope it is a small problem as without Dembele I fear our season could come to a juddering halt.
The Swansea game is the one I am worried about - don't know why but just am :)

Ouch. But injuries happen to all teams at this stage of the season, we have to deal with it too. Let's hope it's nothing serious though...

Hopefully it's incredibly Minor and a precaution

We haven't lost with him on the ouch since United, until today

He is a beast that keeps us ticking

He's had a history of groin injuries hasn't he? Worrying the its flared up now. Should be nowhere near the line up on Thursday and hopefully fit enough for Swansea.

All teams except Leicester...

Hopefully it's nothing serious as you say. Him coming off at half time makes it sound more precautionary to me. As in he felt something, but not serious enough for him to come off straight away. Discuss it a bit at half time and decide it's not worth taking the risk over so make the sub.

Would be more likely to be serious had he pulled up and had to come off straight away.

Don't think he would have been in the starting line-up on Thursday regardless after starting yesterday. Has been managed to a game a week most of the season.

Hopefully both him, Lloris and Lamela are back fully fit for the Swansea game.

I was saying Mason was the better option. Not sure if you were aiming your post at me having mis-read my post or agreeing with me having read it correctly.
