Modric - No Longer A Spurs Player

Its him, its his choice.

haha, well not everyone is like you then. I'm sure quote a large portion of oppressed / unfortunate or weak willed people wish they were. just some people arent strong enough or they just have that kind of vice you know

my brother, my mother, my girlfriend can get me to do things i wouldnt want to do normally.

i will say this though, you will not be able to identify AT ALL with people getting abused , battered or people that live in poverty or in a 3rd world.

i dont think modric is blameless but to say that each of us will forever be 100% responsible and everything is black and white just doesnt come across like real life to me. at least not from my experience

i will however willingly admit that i am weak minded , especially when it comes to people close to me

Hear hooves think a horse?

Assuming things is a surefire way to be wrong a lot of the time.

It dawned that it was a possibility as soon as it was reported in the media, however you can't believe everything you read in the media.

Well we know he did the same thing last season, right around the time of the transfer window funnily enough! So he's got previous. You can't obviously believe everything you read in the press, but there is no smoke without fire. When a player is linked with a club for a significant amount of time, then there is usually something to it. And we know Modric wanted to leave last season, and even though we had no concrete evidence that he went on strike, he didn't deny it did he? It's not like he came out and said these stories are all lies and I want to stay with the club, which he could have easily done, like VDV has!

I said that in football, you have to read between the lines sometimes when it comes to a player/manager and his actions or words and one poster laughed it off. We will never know every little detail of what goes on at the club, but we are all old enough to draw our own conclusions.

i think you're focusing a bit too much on him having no choice in the matter - i may be wrong here but all i have seen is that some are suggesting that he is being/has been persuaded by others to do things he wouldn't necessarily do if left to his own devices - of course the final say is down to him but i think what Steff (and others) are alluding to is that there is some big pressure on him forcing the deal through (which leads to the skipping of training etc)

not sure if i go along with that or not but i don't think it's an entirely unrealistic suggestion

Steff particularly seems to have gone to lengths to try and absolve Modric.

Thats the only real issue I have, I cant buy into it at all.

I do agree Modrics behaviour is appalling - if what is reported is true.

IF Madrd are being underhand as reported I think its shameful of them.

It is however quite possible things are moving along without drama as well...

I know, Having done a physics degree i'm familiar with them. However this is real life.

You were right yes. However does that mean you never even entertain the possibility of being wrong?

Strawman.

"Real life" - Are you not familiar with having to make judgement calls, based on imperfect information, in "real life" then? Different circumstances and I'll make a different assessment; surely a claimed man of physics could understand simple logic as that? The possibility of being right or wrong never changes, but it's information, experience and skill which controls your ability to influence probability.

Steff just likes pretending he knows things which everyone else doesn't.

I liken him to Beautrix Potter.

We said it was possible that he had not done anything wrong. At no point did i definitively state that Luka Modric had not been on strike and that he had not travelled with the squad because he chose not to.

Instead i kept my mind open to other possibilities. I've written this like 30-40 times in this thread and i just can't explain it any simpler..

You reached the conclusion based on evidence, yes, this time you did. However are you telling me that you are always 100% correct when you do that?

You bet on a horse. It won. That does not mean your always going to pick the winning horse.

listen , i get sooo much wrong...you could earn a living by betting against me

i just dont feel the need to let go of common sense just yet. this seemed like a slam dunk to me....quotes flying all over the place, modric not speaking, no one from the press was getting sanctioned...RM speaking for modric and talking smack

all i can say is that to me it seemed obvious this time

...i dont know what word it is that describes people that know an answer but stretch out the questions with just being pedantic and looking for loop holes to survive an argument for as long as they can knowing that the other side is most probably right...there is a word for that kind of thing but i cant quite bag it.

Is it a 'Garth Crooks'? :)

There will always be exceptions Affy, I dont imagine a 25 year old millionaire sportsman is one of them though.

To you it might. I didn't think he'd be stupid enough to go on strike, as it would be more likely to strengthen Levy's resolve.

I thought he'd want the transfer to go through far more smoothly, which would have involved training with the squad and getting fit. Which would also have been in his best interest.

I'm perfectly happy to make judgement calls. However i am not about to go declaring them as fact before there is definitive proof. Which is what others seemed to be doing.

Oh but remember: we're in "the real world" though, so why are you applying such a scientific analysis of informal judgement calls?

I'll guess I'll just stick to being able to make the right calls using imperfect information :D

I'm not applying such a scientific analysis.

I'm avoiding pushing my opinions onto others. Instead trying to enter into a reasoned debate. :p

(That said i do enjoy a good argument every now and again)

LUKA UPDATE

The Club can confirm Luka Modric has returned to training today (Monday) at Spurs Lodge.

The coaching staff will now determine the remainder of his pre-season preparation.

Just appeared on the club site. Does appear that the club have every intention of showing publically that they are not going to be pushed around by the player.

Absolutely.

You can fudge around all you want, Luka - but you're fudging with the wrong Chairman.

We don't need the money. So do your fudging job, bitch.
