I saw that while checking the papers. They sound so definitive that I was expecting some confirmation. Then I came here expecting frantic discussion and nothing on the transfer thread, nothing on this thread in 9 hours since your post.
cant wait for the little rat to fudge off and do not agree with some that are saying that calling him that is harsh, the taco didnt go on a tour ffs and chose to be a spoilt little brat. He was a spilt kid a year ago and then was forced to stay, but what he did this summer was bang out of order. Not going on a tour to America, a choice he made probably with his agent shows what a horrible person he is. fudge off Modric and hope you are on the bench at Real Madrid.
The thing is, IMO, his little protest has done him absolutely NO favours in forcing the move.
We have (incl today) 6 days left of the window and he has gone nowhere. Amidst rumours that his and Madrids tomfoolery has actually hardened our stance making the deal more difficult.
Had he made his intentions clear but carried on as a proper professional, helping the club and team, I suspect he and we would be better off at this point...
Yes, one has to wonder how his antics have affected things. It's possible that the public defiance make it more difficult for Levy to make a compromise with Madrid, either because he doesn't want a fan backlash or he is tinkled off like us. If everyone behaved professionally, it would be easier to portray any deal as a reasonable compromise.
I'm conflicted. While I accept that we are probably better off ending this saga and moving on, I'd be really tinkled off if Madrid get him on the cheap.
I think the important question if and when Modric leaves is how will we be able to attract other top players ? I think unlike Arsenal who have great recent history, we will struggle to convince top players to join us when we can't keep the existing ones.
