Mikey Moore

We've not been putting in crosses for years, so far only 25 headed goals scored in 60 PL games this season, probably most from dead ball situations, unless you've got a striker who dominates in the air it's a 50/50 ball at best, I understand they can cause panic in some defences but equally get cleared and lead to counterattacks.
144 crosses in 6 PL games would suggest we do put in crosses ;)

Does that include dead ball situation and whether they are delivered by wingers? I certainly can't think of Johnson, Son or Werner crossing that many balls for heading this season.
Average of 24 crosses per game, we won't have near that amount of deadball situations. Also a cross isn't just those that are for a header, there have been plenty fired in low or along the ground.

Must be I'm just and old bloke a pass along the ground was just a pass but a cross was in the air. All of our players can get wide and pass across goal so I don't see why there is a concern that Moore can't, he's supplied lots of chances in youth games passing along ground from wide positions.

It's not a pass, it's putting a ball in low, normally around the 6 yard box, e.g. VdV setting up Johnson. And nobody said Moore can't do it, it was the only thing missing on Thursday that Ange looks for from his wingers.

I find it strange that VDV did not pass the ball across goal, the figures in the table show our wide players (Johnson/Son/Werner) only "crossed " the ball only 26 times which seems to me that our wingers don't cross the ball that often.

The one thing missing from his game last night that Ange will probably be looking for from him as a winger is putting in good crosses.
I think he attempted one all game. He's normally played on the left wing but I wonder will Ange look to use him on the right mostly to avoid him coming inside like Son on the left.

Anyway, if he continues to progress like he has been we have a superstar on our hands.
I don't think he'll stay out wide, I think he'll be used through the centre. Reminds me a lot of Gazza.

Well done. Sure he will get a lot more minutes this season. But please practice with your left foot.
Behave yourself Little Barry.
Moore uses his left all the time.
He also uses the outside of his right, when his stride pattern dictates.
He is adept with both.
Far more than most players.
Just look at this reel of him becoming one of the best players in the world, for his age group, and note the perfect crosses and goals and a screamer he scores with his left foot.

I’ve never heard this defined before quite honestly. From playing I would say a cross is something like a shot where you are playing a percentage chance banging it in or curling it in - you might not even look. Not quite as certain as a pass.

That can be low or high but happy to accept your definition!

Sky just showed some stats, 144 crosses and 1st for crosses with a game less played...

Ange, please start him in the next league game if Son isn’t ready.
I think it's still a bit too early for that. Though if Ange did I would definitely support the decision.

Ange seems to gradually give him more game time (not in a linear way game by game of course). Seems like a good approach.

I also think Ange has spoken in the past about preferring to bring in young players into a team that's working reasonably well. Give them the best chance to succeed, not throwing them in because of a crisis into something not already working.

Most of the time now we are playing rather well. But I think that may have been part of the reason why Moore only got a handful of minutes and that Gray and Bergvall were left on the bench against Brighton.
