Micky van de Ven

It's absolutely ridiculous to use 2 decimal places on something measured in such a subjective way across varying distances. Better to just say they are all 37kmh; the measurement error will be large.

It's also a top speed measurement which is useless

VDV is not only stupid quick (which top speed shows), his acceleration allows him to catch player even when they have a head start.

Fastest players in the Premier League (km/h)

1. Micky Van De Ven - 37.38

2. Chiedozie Ogbene - 36.93

3. Pedro Neto - 36.86

4. Dominik Szoboszlai - 36.76

5. Dara O'Shea - 36.73

6. Anthony Gordon - 36.68

7. Amadou Onana - 36.65

I remember a few years ago Eric Dier made this list. 😲

And the agility to both deal with tricky situations and be comfortable on the ball.

Rather fantastic combination.

its down to 10m granularity which sounds about right considering the pitch is about 100m.
with VAR cams I think its possible that they are capturing it at meters per second, but changing the reference into km/h for easy understanding.

those tennis serve cams are something else too!

Strange Kyle Walker isn't on the list.
It's a top speed achieved rather than an acceleration list (much more relevant for football). Walker has amazing acceleration hence the general inability to beat him with pace and his high recovery rate but possibly his actual top speed is not that high.

Kind of shows again that these top speed lists are useless when applied to football.

Walker's top speed is high. He caught up to Werner over a distance of 20-30 yards. You don't do that if your top speed isn't up there.

He's fast, but there are variables of top speed, acceleration, weight balance at time.

I suspect not much between Walker and Johnson in a prepared sprint but in the City game earlier in season Johnson left him for dead.

That's again very possibly acceleration related rather than the top speed achieved. Also almost everyone is faster running without a ball at their feet than they are when they running and trying to keep control of it at the same time.
