Max Aarons

I was not that impressed with him against us. But that is a one game sample for me. Not seen many 90 mins of him playing. As it seems the club has no faith in KWP and Aurier is just brick. Seems like we need to get a RB in. Maybe buy him and sell them KWP. I still have some faith he will be a good RB but its just not happening for him at Spurs.

The best defensive FB in the league but offers nothing going forward
It’s like De Gea when he was the worlds best... because he never left his line and could save with his feet. No one cared that he dealt with crosses like a vampire and his passing was average
The very best have to excel at everything
Right now Liverpool have the best right back as his attacking is beyond world class but his defending is solid. One over compensates for the other in big way making TAA that good

If/when they go down, we won't be the only club interested in Aarons so I don't think it would be vastly reduced.
 
Have only seen him 3 times and I haven't been overly impressed, certainly not enough to part with £45m. Wan Bissaka at a similar age went for £50m and you can see he is a proper defender, still has a lot to learn going forward but defensively he knows his stuff and rarely gets beaten by the opposition player. Should have got him last summer.

But they really are very different styles of player. Wan-Bissaka seems incredibly gifted and aware with respect to the defensive side of the game but much less able than Aarons when it comes to pushing forward, making passes and giving an attacking option, which so many teams want from a player in that position right now.
 
Agreed. Like I stated he has a lot to learn going forward but for me defending our goal is a right-back's priority and he's one of the best.

He is brilliant at defending. But it means he is really poor at attacking. Hence why he doesn’t get picked for his country
 
Still very young and that can be coached, doesn't make many if any defensive errors... which I think is quite important.

But FBs in the modern game are so much more to the point we play Aurier who cannot defend because he offers some kind of attacking threat
