Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Really? I thought he was lethargic at LB, kept passing the ball straight into Gooners. Then when he moved to central midfield he gave the ball away five or six times after really heavy touches... So dangerous.

He made one good run forward initially, but after that it was pretty calamitous. I thought alongside Eriksen and Trippier he was one of the worst players out there.
Yea like I say, I don’t think he played particularly well, but we needed that bite in CM and he provided it.

Nice to see Poch sticking it to the media trying to push their agenda.. Pundits also bricking on about Kane's offside pen.

What about Xhaka's early challenge where he should have been off, what about Aubameyang's soft pen, basically a dive. All mostly ignored.
He is fuming.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane says the team must "step up" when the pressure is on if they are to start winning trophies.

Spurs' Premier League title challenge has faded after back-to-back defeats by Burnley and Chelsea, before Saturday's draw against Arsenal.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are in third place, 10 points behind leaders Emirates Marketing Project with nine games left.

"We need to find a way to get it done," said England captain Kane, 25.

"We haven't done that in recent years, we haven't done that this week and that will be the difference.

"That is the turning point that we need to try to achieve."

Tottenham go into the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie at German side Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday with a 3-0 lead.

Will it take five years to change Spurs mentality?
Tottenham, who have not won a trophy since claiming the League Cup in 2008, have challenged for honours under Pochettino in recent years only to fall short at crucial moments.

They missed out in the race for the Premier League to Leicester City in 2016, with the Foxes finally securing the title when Spurs let a two-goal lead slip to draw at Chelsea in May.

They were also beaten in the semi-finals of the 2017 and 2018 FA Cup, as well as in the last four of this season's Carabao Cup.

Spurs, who finished third behind Emirates Marketing Project and Manchester United last term, went into this season without making a signing, and also did not add to their squad in the January transfer window.

Following the defeat by Burnley on 23 February, Pochettino - who took over at Spurs in 2014 - said it could take five to 10 years to instil the mentality in his side to challenge for the title.

Kane said: "I don't think it's far away but I think what the gaffer was saying was it's not a guarantee that if you improve you are still going to win things.

"Every team is improving, every team is strengthening, every team is getting better year by year - so it's important for us that we don't fall behind that.

"We have got to a stage in the past four or five years where we have maybe done more than we expected as a club, but it means that we have to do even more to reach that stage.

"Whether it's five years or not I can't say, but I hope it's sooner than that."

I’m sure this will be reported with a headline of Kane: win trophies or I’m off or Kane in come and get me plea to Madrid, Kane leads Spurs exodus with Alderweireld and Eriksen set to join Dembele and Walker in leaving due to Spurs lack of trophies and investment.

Absolutely agree. The real crime is he has to justify himself to a fair portion of the fanbase as well.

Poch doesn't need to defend his record or justify himself (results over the long run speak for themselves)

That said, I do think we stumble at just the wrong moment a few too many times. I don't talk about PL, because I genuinely believe our squad just isn't good/deep enough to sustain the challenge. It's the cups, how many QF/SF's where we just come up short, we need to find the answer .. and Poch has to grow there

He is spot on and that is now Kane and Poch who have alluded to our lack of mentality to actually get through more of the crunch games. Good to hear.

You know Harry, poch obviously know it and we know it. Might be time to pass it onto some of your team mates.

Thanks, that is a great read

Everyone should read that, to remind themselves about this man

Very impressive

The section about 'depressed, injured, out on loan Mason... suddenly bursting into the first team and England' made me think of Onomah and Edwards. Right now they are MILES from the first team, just like Mason was.

The more you watch it the worse it looks.. Taylor had a clear view too. Outrageous, not even a fudging yellow!

I’ll be honest. I just watched Poch before I watched this and thought “I think he’s going a bit far.”

I couldn’t really remember the tackle until I watched it again just now. At the time I was just amazed it wasn’t a free. It didn’t register at the time what a nasty malicious foul it was. Dirty fudging clam.

Great read.

Since Pochettino was appointed in 2014, they have had a net spend of just £29 million without factoring in January’s outgoings. To put that into perspective for the same period, the comparison is: City £518m, United £466m, Arsenal £225m, Chelsea £200m and Liverpool £183m.

Magic.
And here's what all those extra millions have produced in terms of the PL points over the same period:

Total points by club, 2014/15 to date (181 games)

394 - Emirates Marketing Project (net spend £518m)
358 - Tottenham (£29m)
356 - Chelsea (£200m)*
344 - Man Utd (£466m)
343 - Liverpool (£183m)
341 - Arsenal (£225m)

*from 180 games

Galling that Cheatski have managed to win two PL trophies over that period despite their lower overall points total compared to us.

It was filthy. I was steaming and it was clear from where I was.
