Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Poch doesn't know how to attack. He knows how to press and retain possession which is kinda like an advanced form of defending, but he relies on players individual instincts and talent to crack the defence open.

Right now the players can't find each other and they don't have set plays to fall back on.

Pretty much agree with this. His lack of attention to attacking details (free-kicks, corners, penalties and running past the main attacker) seem to give some credence to this view. I think we need a sort of Cantana father figure to knit together all our youthful players and help out in crisis times. No idea who this might be however!

Yeh I think/know you are right. Just this whole view he has "Spurs fans demand more" like he is trying to raise tension

he's literally paid to be a wind up merchant - whatever the topic of the day is his job is to come up with an angle that gets people so wound up they call in and earn Talksport £££s. looks like he's done his job well with this one

Done me up like a kipper, got me post lunch beer, I called him Hezbollah and he ended the conversation.

Our biggest problem is we keep doing the same things but hope and expect a different outcome.

We are predictable!

The City goal Alli put away is a very rare example of what we should be attempting more often.

I think he knows how to attack. I would
live to see the woodwork statistics this season, it feels like we have hit it a lot. The main issues we have are too many of the attacking mids are not hitting the target, Kane has been out and his replacements have largely sputtered.

It's not about the goals but a few repeatable formations or sequences that the players are drilled in. Less thinking required on the pitch, moving the ball faster than the defence can track, attackers lined up in anticipation in the right place at the right time, and even planning for contingencies at the far post, or the late incoming striker. I haven't seen any evidence of this, on the other hand see quite the opposite - a lot of of players thinking really hard what yo do next.

When Poch first arrived he talked about quick turnovers (regaining of possession and turning it into attack). I think he has failed to deliver this as a coach and through drills.... But instead chosen the easy route and over relied on the players like Kane and Alli to deliver through sheer enthusiasm and individual brilliance. Sometimes it works but when players are off form.....thats what we have today.

A few games ago we barely had a shot from goal but recently the shots are flying in from everywhere. So that's a good sign, Poch is trying, giving players different instructions... However there's little pattern to rely on and I do not know how our next goal will come.

Let me put it this way - when he was on MNF, Klopp mentioned more than once how 'the press is the best playmaker'. His point was that catching the opposition in possession leads to a lot of chances that even the best #10s couldn't fashion by themselves.

Our problem, it seems to me, is that, having adopted the press, we harry the opposition into mistakes - but when they do make the mistakes they do, we either dally far too long in exploiting them or we pass it side to side, ruining the chance. I'm not sure if this is because of a serious lack of confidence or because the players aren't being drilled in terms of what positions to adopt in anticipation of the press succeeding - either way, our primary 'playmaker', the press, isn't working out for us, and we have zero alternatives because our primary style of play is so energy-consuming.

One area where Poch can definitely improve this season is in our set-piece work, though. It has been truly awful save for when Toby's around as a target to aim for - some more work done there could carry him through this somewhat difficult period.

Jansenn on Wednesday pressed twice when he came on and made the defender fluff his lines... But he had no back up to make it effective

Well done gaffer, balls of absolute steel. Plays a formation with this team for the first time in a massive North London Derby. Also brings on Harry winks with 8 minutes to go with game evenly poised at 1-1. Make no mistake he would have copped a load of criticism if it had not come off. Unlucky not to beat the French condom.

A remarkable day for him IMHO.
If we just consider how he felt when he went bed Wednesday night?
We were all fed up and down, he must have felt much much worse.
I cant say how good that performance today was. It was immeasurable in its importance.

Although Klopp is getting the major plaudits, rightly so to some extent, I wonder how he would cope losing his 3 most important players and
now a 4th. Keep us hanging in their gaffer I'm sure we will finish the season strongly.

I think it was a very good call to go to a back 3 and I'd be interested to see if Poch wants to continue with it.

I want to see how Liverpool cope at Christmas when their playing back to back games

They also must have a run where they play some top sides back to back
