Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Let's be fair though, we haven't looked like scoring since the international break. We have huffed and puffed, but been restricted to half chances.

We/Pochettino have been found out, now has he got the skills to get us out of this dip?
Sorry don't buy this. Why haven't Liverpool been found out then? They play the same pressing style as us. The difference? Their top players are on form right now. We are going through a poor period of form and as always when this happens people over analyse everything and create reasons for this form that aren't even there. These periods happen to all teams, especially one that is full of players who are nowhere near the finished article. We just have to ride the wave....

Agreed, we rode it up, so need to stay on in the dip.
As bad as we were last night, and we were bad, this is the elite competition in football, there's no bad teams. Neither real or barca won in this round and conceded a hat load of goals against a small club and a team we spanked not so long ago.
Let's not get carried away here.

The noticeable thing last night was the confidence and trust in each other is evaporating. leading to the safe pass (which was ironically often leading us into dodgy situations). This kills any hope of clever play, fast transitions, basically anything the opposition find hard to deal with.

Luckily, up until last night, we have been super solid defensively. But the 'brain fart' mentality was rearing its head again last night.

Let's hope Poch has got this. If we get Kane Toby and Moose back regularly that's maybe all it will take. But I'm a bit worried that it was the 3 in behind where this malaise started.

It looks like Pochettino is facing his first real test as the Spurs manager. We are winless in 6 matches, doesn't look like scoring or winning a match and we are facing Arsenal away next. This can get really ugly. He will need all his managerial knowledge and luck to get us out of this mess. I think Pochettino has to take the blame for our current problems. He relied too much on our inexperienced youngsters and failed to buy enough quality players.

Agreed, and the fact that we're very close to the top of the league, despite playing poorly so far this season is comforting. Could just do with a big performance in the CL away in Monaco to give ourselves the chance of making the next round

Its a lot more difficult to stop pace I guess?

We all know what Liverpool are going to do, but try stopping Mane/Lallana/Firmino/coutinho/Sturridge etc

We are just so slow, we are crying out for some pace in the final third.

I highlighted this several times towards the end of last season almost like deja vu - we have to back the team and manager now were in a download phase

We were very likely to have a blip this season after have a big upwards curve for 2 years and having a very young team. The euros really were not great for us as it gave us more game sin tired legs and lots of our players didn't have a great experience there.

We have started this season in a really mixed fashion and thats not a surprise for me although its disappointing. The ket is how we deal and learn with it

Poch has been a manager for the same amount of time that Kyle Walker has played for us... that isn't a huge amount of management experience - Eddie Howe has more... id wager that Poch is the least experienced manager in the league

We certainly have the least experienced side

We also have the players that have probably played the most games

It certainly gives credibility to those who were calling for players with a bit more experience to be signed over the summer rather than expecting the same players to continue improving (most haven't yet) and other young kids to kick on.

Bench has looked thin all season.

The issue for many, I must admit I am frustrated by it as well is his apparent in ability to learn from his mistakes.

We all know how WBA etc will play against us and we wont change it, I see a lot of people having ago at the way WBA etc play against us, but why should they change when it clearly works.

Despite what some say, he does not have a plan B as most of our players are in the same mold so it is difficult to have one.

Its a bit of stubbornness I'm sure but he is also learning... I think (can't believe I'm saying it) that we have to accept that we are in a season of change because of our success last season ... if we weren't as good last season being in our current position would be great.

Positive view: Hey were undefeated in the league and learning in the champions league. We beat the abs team in the country who even nicked our game plan to be a the mighty Barca

Pessimistic view: But because we came 3rd whilst being the second best team in the league we have upped our expectations and I for one expected us to battle for the league again whilst putting up a good show in the Champions league which we haven't yet :9
