Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Sounds like hogwash to me. Poch would have just a big a part to play in convincing players to stay and Levy is hardly in the habit of selling players against his manager's wishes.

Have to agree its a load of gonads, players like Bale, Modric WANTED to leave to win things which in all honesty they were not going to do here at that time. Its different know because this team is good enough and will get better.

Just another flimflam articule about the myth we are a selling club.

Some great footage of Poch in his playing days

The highlight is that tackle on the proper Ronaldo at 8:20 if you cant be arsed watching it all.

^ nice video compilation, proper music and some proper goals from poch too.

back when a time when football was a contact sport

I just love Poch.

Does the right things.

Says the right things.

This is his response to the Chelsea knobhead Emenalos criticism of Spurs´track record regarding youth:

Tottenham news conference

Mauricio Pochettino won't be drawn on a newspaper interview by Chelsea technical director Michael Emanelo in which he criticised Pochettino's record on youth development.

He says simply: "I won't speak about what is obvious at both Southampton and Tottenham."

That'll be that, then...

Ouch :)

Emanalo admitted to fielding questions from parents and players concerned about their development.

He added: “Yes, because that’s what they hear. But if you look at Tottenham , the reality is that it is just the one key player that has done it: Harry Kane.

“Dele Alli, they bought. Tom Carroll is a fringe player. Eric Dier, they bought.

"So with all the hoopla about Tottenham, it’s just the one player. So we try to remind them it’s not just a Chelsea problem.”

KNOB.

This is just incredible, fantastic, amazing

Almost lost for words

liked this from the article above

We’ve set the bar now, and everything below this bar is unacceptable. We’ve had so many twists and turns at the club. Managers have come, managers have gone. Now we’ve got a good foundation, a great manager, a great bunch of lads. Hopefully, we can step on for the next 10 years.

Is he not right though? Players that have come through our academy have been at best fringe players excluding Kane.

Anyway, the issue with Chelsea is surely the managers not having trust to bring their young players into the first team rather than issues with their academy etc Without knowing much about Chelsea's academy Im sure they have various talented young players that if given the opportunity would impress like many of our young lads have...

We've given lots of players a proper chance though. Chelsea are the ones who buy pre-developed talent, yet still don't play them.

Kane is clearly the stand-out from our academy, but we have had several others who have made significant contributions and at times this season had fives players on the pitch who came through the academy. And the point is more that young players know that in Poch they have a head coach who will give them a chance, not just ship them out to play in Belgium or Holland (I know it's two names for the same country, but you get my point).

No, he's not, two big differences for me (between us and anyone in top 6

- Our academy is producing PL level youngsters (not all will be stars) Kane, Mason, Carroll, Caulker, Livermore, etc. with a pipe to more, e.g. KWP, CCV, Edwards, Onamah ...
- Our youngsters (academy or bought) get significant game time (Kane, Mason & Bentaleb last season, Alli, Dier, etc this season).

Rose was signed when he was 16 iirc, he didn't make his first team debut until two years later and its only in the past 3 seasons he has been viewed as a senior player, he's been recognised as the best left back in the league this season. Whilst he did not come through our academy pre-16, he developed as a player greatly at spurs and I would definitely consider him to be one of our produced players. Mason is a first sub player, so thats 3.

Two of our produced players in walker and Bentaleb were both brought when they were 18. This isn't early enough for them to be seen as produced by us but, it does say a lot for our training of the players that they are both PL (and international) quality.

As others have said, we've produced a number of PL quality players. What have chelsea done? Changed the landscape of the PL forever by buying success? Yes! Increased the quality of the PL through the production of PL players? No.

Carlton Cole came from chelsea. Says it all.

There is a rumor about a 10 million pounds buy-out clause on Poch's contract. Read that on Red Café (Man United forum). Most likely no truth to that rumor.
