David Ginola
I don't see it with him still, I can forgive the 1v1 as the Keeper also earned his crust there, but he is far too passive in games for me.........I hope he proves me wrong, likely will, but currently, he is a mystery
I'd agree with this. Despite my defence of the 1v1 overall been very underwhelmed with what ive seen so far...I don't see it with him still, I can forgive the 1v1 as the Keeper also earned his crust there, but he is far too passive in games for me.........I hope he proves me wrong, likely will, but currently, he is a mystery
You either bang it early, hit it when the keepe plants his feet, whack it through his legs, flip it over him like Messi or best of all, do a Glenn Hoddle and sit the keeper round with a twitch of an eyebrow and just slide past, or Gazza style take it wide passed the keeper and slot if it from the outside edge of the six yard box.
An unpracticed player would just do what the keeper forces him to do.
Must say I feel the same thingI'd agree with this. Despite my defence of the 1v1 overall been very underwhelmed with what ive seen so far...
I love playing teams with coaches like that. "PLAY IT TO FEET DAN, TO FEET" he screams as I calmly put myself between Dan and his only "to feet" option ready for an easy interceptionOur 1v1 trainer has printed just that, doesn't say a word to our strikers, just shoves that in their faces before going out on the pitch.
Occasionally he will just scream "TWITCH THE fudging EYEBROW!" from the sidelines - still the ball sometimes hit the goalie.
Yeah he'd certainly have to go some to play centrally in an effective manner. Initial Frank pre-season decisions seems to prefer Odobert over him left. Let's hope he pushes on!Must say I feel the same thingNothing I have seen from him justifies the hype around him. Also, despite what Florian Plettenberg said when he signed, he is definitely not a central striker. Cannot hold up the ball, not aggressive enough and does not seem to have the ruthless calm streak that good strikers have.
However he is still young and maybe a few games in his favourite left wing role will show us a different player.
It’s the defining factor between great and goodSometimes players get too much time, bloke I use to sit next to always said Chris Armstrong had to act first time before he had time to think.
It’s the defining factor between great and good
Robbie Keane was always rash when he had time … when he and no time he was sublime
Kane you would back every time with time or not because it was programmed and practiced (he also moved the keeper better than most) … but I’d never expect Kane to score a goal like Keane did vs Blackburn
YepYou knew that goal was special by the looks on the Blackburn players faces.
Yeah I think Keane was your typical spurs player really as was e.g. Van der Vaart. Keane didn't make it at Liverpool. VDV didn't make it at Real Madrid. They are off-the-cuff mavericks that we as a club indulge but Kane was a machine. Everything he did was a process that he was thinking about.Yep
And such a Keane goal
As was the one he hit vs Chelsea mid week in the 4-4
Kane could score screamers but not ones beating several players but Kane like the genuine elite made more time for themselves with the ball
It’s elite vs brilliant playersYeah I think Keane was your typical spurs player really as was e.g. Van der Vaart. Keane didn't make it at Liverpool. VDV didn't make it at Real Madrid. I think its more that an elite player - you just take it forgranted to an extent. I remember all of Ginola's and Keane's great goals as if we are brutally honest they didn't happen as often as they could have and there's often probably an element of them trying low-percentage stuff regularly which an elite player isn't interested in doing. But then with Kane it did probably get to the stage of "oh he's just curled it in the top corner from practically the corner flag to win the NLD....again....*yawn*...happens every 6 months mate....."It’s elite vs brilliant players
The elite just do it time after time so consistently
The brilliant ones have highlight reels and get you off your feet when they get the ball just in case
The elite ones get you off your feet when they have done their magic
If any of that makes sense
I like him. Fast, fairly athletic overall, great ball striking ability and can dribble past players. Profiles a bit like Son perhaps (not to say he'll become as good) including that if he's not set up in good situations for him he may struggle to impact games. I think that makes him look a bit "passive", he (like many forwards) needs the right service. But I think he plays with a good intensity.I don't see it with him still, I can forgive the 1v1 as the Keeper also earned his crust there, but he is far too passive in games for me.........I hope he proves me wrong, likely will, but currently, he is a mystery
