Mathys Tel

Tel (20), Odobert (20), Moore (17). That's our left wing sorted for a decade or so!
Forgot hes just turned 20. That is ridiculously young and to think players are supposedly in their prime at 26. With an actual proper coach I can see this boy becoming a worldie. Hell, someone like Bayern might even come and poach him once he is settled for a near world transfer fee.

Also Gutterboy, how dare you forget Son MkII, he will be given a chance with Thomas the Frank Engine, and even maybe Kings Solomons Mines will be as well.

Well worth it at that price, I think he's got a lot of promise and has a year of PL experience to build on.
Not even 6 months yet dear chap, had to re-check but we only signed him on 3rd February. So still got so much to improve on but only been with just us over 4 months when you think of it.

I'm really surprised at some of the comments about saving cash on this deal. Tel has been one of the most highly rated forwards in Europe for the last 2 years, his potential is ridiculous and his ceiling is as high as any forward in Europe.

We just got an absolute steal.

Potential is the key word.

We’ve taken more than a few players with potential and apparently high ceilings (e.g. Ndombele) only to later regret the move.

Not to say Tel won’t come good. He hasn’t shown much yet really - but it would be unfair to judge anyone playing in a team that was very poorly organised for long stretches over the past season.

£30 or £40 million sounds a reasonable level of payment for a punt; going above that feels like a risk too far for me…but then it’s not my money. 😃

Very happy with this. But if I was being a pedant (or Levy even) I’d have probably preferred £25m on account of the high loan fee, but not a big deal.

I reckon he was shocked by the pace, strength and intensity of the league hence some early struggles.

But as others have said he has a strong mentality and didn’t shy away. He dug in and ground out incremental improvements and got better over time.

I think we’ve seen the worst of him, he’ll push on from here and more than justify the fee

No brainer signing
For me as a 19/20 year old it's more about looking at the attributes they have rather than are they scoring a load of goals/assists so early in their career.

To me he looks to be physically really good, good technique and shot, and mentally really mature and strong. If he harnesses those skills I really think this guy will take off in a year or two....
