Mathys Tel

Deal was a no-brainee. Gives us a body and extra option now and if he sets the PL alight we can sign him and if he disappoints we just let him bs Bayern's problem in the summer.

Also backs the manager- who has clearly requested another forward.

Hearing the option might be exercised only after having a conversation with the player. Weakens our position BUT if earlier reports are to be believed he stated he still wanted to have a crack at making it at Bayern.

I think we (and all parties) are trying to keep everyone happy here. (If my first paragraph is true)
"Hearing"
You're not "hearing" anything Richard, you're reading it on teletext like the rest of us

That’s not an option
That’s a negotiation

Just looking at Tels club history.....Bayern paid £25m for him from Rennes despite him only clocking up (from what I can make out) barely 100 first team minutes.

He played 1 min against us in the Conference League (I think the reverse fixture at our place was the game that got cancelled)

He must have been highly rated by scouts for that fee.

However it got done, whatever happened last week, I have to hold my hand up and give Daniel Levy massive credit for refusing to give up and making sure we got our man.
Clearly he has been on our list of 'wants' for some time given that we wanted him as part of the Kane deal, so this has to count as a great bit of work on the part of all who got it done.

Hey Steff, you’re a passionate supporter, speak your mind and tell it how you see it. But most importantly you’re willing to hold your hands up in the face of new evidence. Nothing but respect for you mate. I just wish others would follow your lead

Appreciate that mate.
Football allows us to do so because it's so non-linear. We were reflecting on the pod this week that poor old Radu's injury was ironically the 'vanishing point' moment where our week (and possibly season) completely changed. If he doesn't get hurt, maybe Dane Scarlett doesn't come on. And maybe none of the rest happens!
COYS!

I posted it already somewhere, but I'd compare Tel to Kulu, but with a more potent shot. Obviously a bit younger (5 years younger than Kulu), just as strong, just as happy running at defenders, just as powerful, and able to bustle and trick his way through.

The question is whether Tel can take that step on to become an elite finisher. The video above with Kane's second hand info is interesting, suggests he has an ethic and determination - which is what made Kane. Hopefully our coaches can help to unleash his potential. Tel is a bit raw, but at 19 what would you expect!

Great signing. We'll need to show some patience, but we have a very decent PL player as is, and if he can refine his play, he could become a top player.
