Luka Vuskovic

Hi is not going to come to sit on the bench....
Will be a step up for him, a new league and all that too. If we can manage to get into Europe again a season starting as a squad player getting significant game time could be perfect for him.

If he keeps up his development it will take a hell of a player to keep him on the bench.

It's a full season loan and I believe the circumstances under which we could recall him in January are rather narrow - along the lines of specific injuries being suffered that necessitated his return to join the first team.

Not sure I'd want him back this soon, either. He's found his groove, and is absolutely flying in the Bundesliga in a team that loves and appreciates him (and that he has a connection to, given how they supported his brother in a difficult moment).

For a kid, that sort of environment is absolutely priceless for his development. I'd go as far as to say that, unless we see an opportunity to move him into the rotation for next year, we'd be best served keeping him at Hamburg until 2027, if they're open to it.

Goons did something similar with Saliba - kept him at Saint-Etienne for two years to grow in a supportive environment, and then got back a much better player for it.

He has the potential to be the best centre-back in the world, bar none. That sort of talent warrants extremely careful management to get the best out of him in the long-term. We're set pretty fair in terms of CBs for now, so why not give him the time he needs?
