Kyle Walker

This is why people think he's a bad coach, though. All he does is go from megarich club to megarich club, signing the world's best players for great big bags full of cash and then putting them on the same field together.

No sh*t you can build an attractive, free-flowing, successful side with unlimited money - anybody can. Pardew can, Allardyce can, Mourinho can (although he chooses not to[emoji14]).

Okay, Pep is undoubtedly tactically intelligent and has a bit of a track record of more than just buying players wholesale - he brought through Busquets and the like at Barca, if nothing else. But if you can only see this man's undaunted brilliance in the Premier League after he's allowed unlimited backing and 500m pounds to spend on transfers, is that really brilliance? Can any bog standard top-flight coach not do that?
Track record of big name managers at the big clubs seems to indicate that it's not something anyone can do.

4 years at Barca, 3 years at Bayern. Both clubs would have been delighted to keep him. Not a lot of managers that can match that even with loads of money to spend.

Yes, but we managed to prevent selling players domestically despite our status in the food chain - our last big sales were abroad, and it seemed a clever way to avoid strengthening domestic rivals for negligble losses on our end. That precedent has now been broken, so the domestic clubs are clamoring to be added to the list of players above us in the food chain that we are willing to sell to.

Winning trophies will help offset that *to a degree* - that's all I'm trying to say.

Winning trophies will not stop clubs from going after our players. As long as the salary offered is bigger or they are a bigger club, players will move. No matter how many trophies Spurs win, if Real came in heavily for Dele - he will move.

all things considered - extended contract, long term youth player, first teamer falling out with poch, selling to a direct rival and price - still a bad outcome in my opinion.

to all those who think guardiola is a poor coach, suggest you suspend judgement untill he get the players he wants.

How many coaches get the chance to get the players they want? With the best squad in the EPL, Pep could only finish third!! Emirates Marketing Project has a fantastic youth academy and yet he hasnt brought one single player from it into the team for development. He has basically even wrecked Kelechi's development.

Gutted he has left. I feel he is by our best RB since Perryman and Carr. Tripper is a better crosser of a ball, but Kyle was the better player. Obv I hope Trippier grows and becomes immense, but still both couldn't be with us. A lot of fans are banging on how Kyle has gone for the big money, certainly not the case. His dad is a friend if my brother in law, and he said Kyle was keen to stay. We have to trust Poch

I never thought Perryman was a fullback like Mabbutt his best position was midfield but they both did a great job for the club and showed what great professionals they were.

Well we do disagree over the bolded bit which we have discussed before, i understand that some trophys are more important then others but most players ( if not all) want to win medals and if you were to ask most players would they be happy to keep trying to make the top four but have no medals to show at the end of their playing days i doubt you will find many ( if any) would say yes.

Obviously it not the same as winning as a professional but my three cup winning medals were more enjoyable to me than the 12 league winners I got. Even at park level it's a big thing.

This is a unique situation in that it seems the club and management were happy for a Walker to go - this isn't Bale/Modric/Berbatov so I don't think it bares any relation or sets a precedent for future transfers where other clubs try to prise away the players we want to keep - as we will see with United and Dier they will be told to jog on and the fact Walker is leaving for City will have zero effect on that

Hopefully the only precedent that will be set is that we can point to Walker and say to the likes of Alli and Co that if you give us years of loyal service we will be a little more accommodating should you want to leave - Walker came here as a wet behind the ears 19 year old and is leaving a fully established international at the peak of his game - if we can get that kind of service from our other young signings/players then we'll have done very well

No you're wrong there mate . Allardyce can't. Nope. No way. He's a clown shoe and he can't "build an attractive, free-flowing, successful side ". It is not in his nature.

On the question of Guardiola. Can he bring City to the top of the pile? Well time will tell. I will say though that he is not tactically naive. And he is not defensively naive either, irrespective of what happened at city last year. The barca high pressure defensive game from X seasons back is his baby. The 5 second rule. The 3-1 rule. It is a template for the high press game now employed many teams, including us.
Isn't that Biesla's baby as opposed to Guardiola's?

He improved Barca (albeit a Barca blessed with 3 or 4 of the World's best players). Bayern regressed a little in his time there however. I guess time will tell at City, but being allowed a net spend of about 400 million will help somewhat I am sure.... I wonder if he could've done with us what Pochettino has?

Give me a billion pound to spend on players and I could manage a team to win the EPL and CL

Guardiola has never done a job as impressive as Poch has done 3 times - completely revving the fortunes of Espanyol, Soton and us on very little resource (currently about minus £54m net spend).

Not by the way you judge players you wouldn't

I agree with the latter paragraph but you have some crazy blinkers on when it comes to certain players mate

so for Pep to prove himself he needs to compete with Madrid, Bayern, Chelsea et al with only spending a fraction of the money they spend?

I'd like to see him actually improve a player whose raw. Someone like Sterling who still doesn't appear to have much a brain despite clearly having abolity. Make him into a consistent quality player would be good to see

That would be something credible.

To date he has inherited very strong squads of players and been at the richest sides so like Mou we have only seen a limited side to their management. You can't argue with the trophy haul though

I haven't said anything on here as I've been busy at my new job this week so here goes.

Not in the slightest sad or upset about this transfer at all. £50m for Walker?! That's a joke right? He isn't that good. He's had 1 and a half years at a good level for us but other than that he's been pretty brick for us since we signed him. When I heard news of Real Madrid getting bale and then seeing him in the shirt at press conference I was gutted, but not yesterday when I saw Walker. If he's the best right back in the league then it goes to show how weak our league actually is.

City just buy their way to success and they are stronger only in that they didn't have a right back. Walker is rapid I give you that but he doesn't have any brain and comes across as quite stupid. I really can't believe he's getting more money than the whole Spurs squad now and the only thing it might do is question some of the spurs players now as they know he's on more dollar than them.

Good luck to Walker but the way the game
Is going is completely crazy and I'd be embarrassed to have that price tag if I were a footballer.
